To want to celebrate my birthday this year

I'll be 55 in November. DP is not really into "special occasions" as such and never has been. We've been together 30 years and I've been fine with it mostly. This year though, it's just been so awful. I was also going to retire this year (he's been retired 2 years now) but that's delayed now. I just want a bit of a fuss made of me, I suppose. I told him the other day and he just went "right" and pulled a face.
Wondering if I sound like a spoilt child now I've written it down. Feel free to tell me, if I am Smile

No you don’t sound at all like a spoilt child. We have had two holidays cancelled this year plus my 50th birthday plans. We have decided to treat ourselves to a break at Christmas as we want something nice this year.

Think about what you would like to do and plan it in. Ignore mardy husband. Have tea with friends. Go for a walk to the top of a hill. Hope you have a nice celebration.

Haven't got any friends so it has to be with him. Can't be on my own either.
