Alcohol makes people normalise awful behaviour

There’s a thread currently where the OPs BF put his 4 year old to bed at 5pm, gets so drunk that he urinates on the kitchen floor, and then passes out on the sofa with the 4 year old awake at 3 am and the OP ordering takeaway.

I have to say that I don’t drink and haven’t for over a year now. But I don’t understand the number of people that say, ‘yeah regularly happens to my DP when drunk’.

I think drinking makes people excuse pretty horrific behaviour I.e drunk men openly urinating in the street etc after nights out. People being sick in the street etc.

I think people who live with someone like this can normalise it to protect themselves sometimes. Or they've grown up with it. But in general I don't think it's normalised. The drinking culture in the UK is horrendous though.

People say it’s always the UK but plenty of other countries have alcohol problems. I went to Helsinki a while back and struggled to find somewhere to buy a bottle of wine. Turns out they made alcohol available at special stores only, hidden away, due to major alcohol problems in Finland. I’ve been to Tokyo a few times and seen all the pissed up male office workers throwing up everywhere and passing out drunk on trains. We do have an issue in the uk but it isn’t uk specific. We’re not even in the top10 for alcohol consumption.

Yes you're right Meruem. I remember reading something about Finland's alcohol problems in particular. I thought the alcohol stores thing was because you can only buy it from government shops in Scandinavian countries in general though?

I still think we're pretty bad in the UK too, even if not the worst.

It is NOT normal op. But some women on her have v e r y low standards when it comes to men. And they accept their partners absurd and neanderthal bevaviour. But they probably had a dad figure in their life behaving the same way so probably to them it is..."normal''....

Sad really 😣
