Sleepovers during Covid

Hi,
I’m interested to know what you all think about children and teens having sleepovers during the pandemic. I know some people will have one child from one household for a sleepover, that’s something I haven’t done myself to be extra careful but I get it. But what do you all think of sleepover parties? I’m in Ireland and the schools have just opened in the past 10 days. There’s already been covid cases in schools. I was told of a parent who is hosting a sleepover with 5 children plus her own child. I know that we are currently being asked to keep visitors to your home to 6 people from a maximum of 3 households. So obviously that’s breaking guidelines. I am curious though, am I in the minority here and there’s sleepovers going on all over the place? I’m of the opinion that we should lay off sleepovers for the moment particularly since the numbers are rising. Would really appreciate others views on this...

Also in Ireland.

If they’re mixing in schools then I wouldn’t be bothered about sleepovers, well unless you’re in Kildare Wink

My daughters been to 3 in the last month or so and a couple parties that’s had 10 different kids attending

I wouldn’t do it. Hanging out and sleeping in the same room for that length of time feels more risky (and less necessary) than school where measure are (or should be) in place. Someone posted a really useful graphic on another post earlier which compares risks of different activities and covered this, will try to find it.

I'd not be allowing more than 1 child from another household.
Most of my parent friends feel the same- 1 child only. No parties.

Not sensible for now.

Thanks for replying greeneyes, they are maintaining social distancing in school. The principal is really on top of it. The kids are from different bubbles and you can’t socially distance on a sleepover. We’re all supposed to be socially distancing with any visitors to our homes. It just seems too risky since the the main priority has to be schools remaining open. I just feel that sleepovers aren’t at all necessary at the moment. We’re in Dublin, the rates are rising here.

Don't follow social distancing so I guess that this doesn't really affect us!
