What mattress type do you like?

Soft, Medium, Firm, Very firm?

I need to replace mattresses in a student rental, so they need to be hard wearing, but I'm trying to work out what firmness suits the 'majority'.

Any brand recommendations also appreciated.

Will the student's trash them? Might want "cheap" as priority.

I dont really want cheap and need to replace every year though, or be increadibly uncomfortable to start with! The current ones are 4yrs old, but looking a bit worn and the springs are feeling wiry.
