To go to my usual gym class tomorrow?

I've hurt my lower back.

Very stupid of me. I went grocery shopping without my car and ended up buying a lot, which I then walked home with.

Anyway, my lower back hurts, quite a lot. I am struggling to bend over and have to keep my back straight when I bend down or it hurts, (so I have to squat to pick things up). I am booked in to a socially distanced aerobic type class in the morning and I'm wondering if it would be stupid to go? I read that exercise is actually good for back pain, so I'm thinking it's fine, but I mean, I literally can't pick up my toddler this evening and I can't lean into his cot. Is that too much pain to continue exercising on? Any advice much appreciated!

I would see how it feels in the morning as a good night's sleep can make a big difference. Personally I would probably go but take it easy - do the low impact options. You can always stop if you think it's too much.

Thanks Blackberry, this is what I'm thinking too. I've found a few articles now saying that it is better to stay active with lower back pain. So, I'll do that. Might cancel body pump on Saturday though... but will see how I go.

I'd probably see how it was in the morning, and don't be tempted to take any painkillers as they may mask any damage you're doing. Make sure you let the instructor know that it is hurting, and that you'll stop if it hurts too much, and try and be by the door so you can leave without disruption if you realise it's unwise. While movement is good for a bad back its generally gentle movement as opposed to aerobic exercise that's recommended.

Hmmm I could do yoga instead. That might be better and there is space on a class tomorrow. I just thought all the bending in yoga would be bad. Ugh, what a stupid twat I am! Annoying. I like this class.

I've cancelled and am doing the yoga, but not till the evening. Didn't want to cancel right before my usual class, as someone else can have my space now.

So annoying. I didn't want to catch the bus due to covid. Bloody should have! Ah well.

Take an ibuprofen and see how it feels in the morning. Movement could help.

Thanks, I think I'll go for a walk or something in the morning. It does hurt. I'm going to take some ibuprofen before I go to bed, a walk in the morning and then yoga in the evening. Fingers crossed that cures me!

I don't think I've had anything like this before. Feeling a bit pitiful this evening. Will take myself off to bed in a minute.
