The Joie 360, compared to other car seats! What's so special about it?

It rotates and can rear face easily? I did like it
Doesn’t last that long- just changed ours for the next stage.

LulusMiniEgg · 03/09/2020 20:16

It’s £199! That’s so cheap! Even the i-spin is only £280. The Maxi-Cosi Mica is £299, the Cybex Sirona-S £250, Nuna Basq £275.
What are you comparing it to?

DarkMintChocolate · 03/09/2020 20:20

You can turn the seat to face you, as you put the child in it - so you can then turn it to its normal position! I only used it rear facing. It saves your back, from having to lean in the car, holding a heavyish toddler and as you put the child in the seat at right angles to yourself!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/09/2020 20:21

I love it, but almost 2 year old DS is about to grow out it. I love that it turns!

Lockheart · 03/09/2020 20:22

Then don't buy it.

longtimelurkerfirsttimeposter · 03/09/2020 20:23

I have one in both DH and my car. Couldn't do without it, saves your back and so much easier to put the child in. I guess if you didn't have it you wouldn't know the difference but once you have had it I doubt you'd go back. Money well spent in my opinion.

JKRsHandmaiden · 03/09/2020 20:23

God when I shelled out for the Cybex Sirona in 2016 it was £375 Shock although it's still going strong. Some of the brands like Axkid are up in the 300 - 500 range.

Joie have a reputation as generally making really decent quality stuff at fairly cheap prices. The 360 is the top of their range as it swivels etc. It's a great seat.

RIPworkingmums · 03/09/2020 20:25

It’s one of the cheapest 360 seats. What are you comparing it to? We had one, it was fine but bloody enormous!

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 03/09/2020 20:26

are you comparing it to a £30 frozen booster seat?!

bloodywhitecat · 03/09/2020 20:27

I paid £159 for my Joie 360 Spin, I don't think that's too steep compared to other seats.

Snailsetssail · 03/09/2020 20:33

It’s incredibly well priced and Joie do advanced testing so it’s safer than a lot on the market too.

Snailsetssail · 03/09/2020 20:35

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee are you are they are going to outgrow it already? That seems very early. My 3 year old has just outgrown his, but he turns 4 next month.

Check the car seat safety Facebook group if you want to double check he still fits. The weight limit is 18kg.

Curlycarly · 03/09/2020 20:37

Tbh I haven't researched them much as I just found out I'm expecting but £200 sounds a lot to me. I didn't realise prices could get that high or even higher!

OP posts:
Curlycarly · 03/09/2020 20:39

Sorry I just expected car seats to be a lot less.

PotteringAlong · 03/09/2020 20:40

Nope, car seats are really expensive.

Flynn999 · 03/09/2020 20:40

We’ve had ours for 3 years and ds is now 4, he still fits in it. It’s Isofix and it’s really easy to get him in and out the car. It can go from birth which is a great bonus. If we had bought £100 ones from mothercare/Halfords we would have probably had to upgrade as ds grew from RF to FF so makes sense to buy 1 that’s going to last as opposed 3 as the child grows.

Covidiot2020 · 03/09/2020 20:41

Decent quality car seats aren't cheap I guess but many people spend a fortune on a pram where cheaper doesn't really matter then scrimp on the car seat. Do it the other way around. Good car seat and then a lower cost Pram.

Sexnotgender · 03/09/2020 20:41

It’s really reasonably priced for what it is. I love mine.

ireallyamthewalrus · 03/09/2020 20:44

Which? score it very highly.

Racoonworld · 03/09/2020 20:45

Get the ispin 360 not the spin 360 as isize is the new safety rating. Much safer than the non isize seats, I wouldn’t touch them!

Batmanandbobbin · 03/09/2020 20:53

Car seats are the only thing you get for a baby that’s worth the cost. Buy a decent one to start with will last you years and years!!
Prams, IMO, waste of money and they are twice the cost and used no where near as long.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/09/2020 21:02

@Snailsetssail yes he's 17.5kg on the 99th centile!!!!

I'm gutted as I love the seat and we've bought a different rear facing one that will do up to 25kg I think it was.

Wow! My almost 4 year old is only 16.6kg, he outgrew it by height rather than weight.

Curlycarly · 03/09/2020 21:21

@Racoonworld 👍

I was more shocked at how much the bases cost for the group 0 car seats you get included in your travel system! But as PP has said the car seat is the thing to research thoroughly and buy the best you can afford. Buying the 'wrong' pram will annoy you every time you use it but highly unlikely to do any real harm, yet often seems so much more emphasis on those than on the car seat side of things. I don't have a Joie spin but I have looked at it and thought it seemed decent if gigantic 😂
