They often seem to get toothpaste on themselves and it looks horrible.

Who cares?

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 03/09/2020 18:54

I get dressed, then eat breakfast, then clean my teeth. I don't get toothpaste down me... Hmm

Skingaling · 03/09/2020 18:54

Probably because they want to brush their teeth after their coffee or whatever.

OwlBeThere · 03/09/2020 18:55

I brush my teeth, get dressed, eat, then brush my teeth again.

ApolloandDaphne · 03/09/2020 18:57

I brush my teeth after I eat breakfast. Sometimes I am wearing pyjamas and sometimes I am dressed. I don't get toothpaste down me either way.

tappbar · 03/09/2020 18:57

Just seems easier to me to do it in the bathroom before your shower to avoid white stains

I get up, have coffee, shower then teeth

DamnShesaSexyChick · 03/09/2020 18:59

No sorry, you’re not making that one happen. Most adults manage to brush their teeth without getting toothpaste all over them.

tappbar · 03/09/2020 18:59

Yes and most children don’t

I do this, I haven't thought about it much, it's just a habit I guess

Everydayimhuffling · 03/09/2020 19:05

Because they get dressed before they eat breakfast and want to brush their teeth after they eat.

hedgehogger1 · 03/09/2020 19:07

I get toothpaste down me since switching to a super fast electric toothbrush. I don't get dressed til after I've done my teeth though.

CremeEggThief · 03/09/2020 19:10

Ideally, you are supposed to wait about half an hour after eating before you brush your teeth.

SummerPoppies · 03/09/2020 19:13

You are supposed to brush your teeth on waking, before eating or drinking anything.
This is because all the bacteria which builds up in your mouth overnight will be swallowed with food and drink if not removed by brushing beforehand, which in turn, leads to illness as the bacteria enters your system.
Healthy mouth = healthy body.

whirlwindwallaby · 03/09/2020 19:20

You'd only notice the few people who do get toothpaste on themselves. You can't assume everyone you see without toothpaste is dressing afterwards.

HermioneGranger20 · 03/09/2020 19:38

I do this. Get dressed brush my teeth, get toothpaste on black top that wont rub off, go to work with toothpaste mark's on top. I have no idea why I do this it just feels wrong doing it before I'm dressed (I'm obviously odd).

HermioneGranger20 · 03/09/2020 19:39

Obviously doesn't happen everyday I would change it if it did 🙈🙈

nosswith · 03/09/2020 19:40

How weird. One of the benefits of the pandemic has been with wfh I can clean my teeth three times a day, and I am not going to take my clothes off just after lunch for this!

gamerchick · 03/09/2020 19:42

You're supposed to brush before eating or drinking. I hope those brushing after eating wait half an hour first for the tooth enamel to sort itself out.

itsgettingweird · 03/09/2020 19:42

I eat/coffee. Pack bags and lunch. Wash and teeth. Get dressed.

But then I am known for being a nightmare and dropping it down my front - that's the coffee or toothpaste!

I shower in evenings

Source? Because this sounds utterly bonkers to me, sorry. Do you not drink water during the night? Do you keep a spittoon by the bed so you don't have to swallow saliva between 10pm and 6am? At what point during the night does your mouth become poisonous?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/09/2020 19:46

PS I eat breakfast etc before brushing and have not yet succeeded in poisoning myself (I'm 39).
