Covid and early years settings

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice and getting confused with current guidelines. My daughters nursery have said that if she goes into school for her 1hr induction then she’s not allowed to go back to nursery for her last week before starting school properly. They’ve said that this is because it will be mixing bubbles. If that’s the guidance then I have no problem with it but from what I can understand of government guidelines then there’s no reason she can’t go back to nursery after the school visit. She’s going to be really disappointed as she has finished nursery without us realising and too be honest I’m going to really struggle with work/childcare next week. I just want to be sure that what nursery has said is right.

Anyone work in early years and know about this?

I think I'd be inclined to skip the school induction, unless she's really timid and in need of it.

I'm not sure what the rules are on "mixing bubbles" now, but I think it's largely up to the school/nursery. I can imagine that nurseries might well have a policy that doesn't allow children to attend two different settings regularly - and although this is a one-off, it might count if that's their policy.

@lanthanum she’s quite nervous and never been in the school before so I think I’ll send her in for the look around and just have to suck up her being off nursery next week

Lots of private nurseries are enforcing that as a rule.

I guess I’m just frustrated that they didn’t communicate it. I only found out when I mentioned I’d be dropping her off a bit late tomorrow. I feel sad for her that she’s not getting her last day. Probably bother me more than her 🤣
