Sitting with petrified friend - having Mirena put in at 3. Does it hurt that much?

YABU = no, it's fine and not painful really
YANBU = brace yourself for pain

I find it uncomfortable - not a nice sensation having a speculum inserted and clamped in place, and the feeling of rummaging inside you is odd, but it didn’t hurt as such. I’m on my third coil now so it can’t have been too bad!

I’ve just noticed it’s past 3pm and she/you might already be in there. Good luck for an easy, painfree insertion!🤞

Taking my last one out was horrible, though! It had got stuck in my uterus wall so it essentially had to be pulled, tugged and scraped out of me by a hospital consultant which wasn’t very nice...

Moral of the story, don’t leave your copper coil in for 10 years as the longer it’s in there the more likely it is to migrate and/or get stuck. Consultant said around the 7 or 8 year mark would be best.

It doesn't really matter though, does it? The information contained in this thread will still be relevant to women seeking information about the coil. I certainly wish I had seen a post like this before having mine.

Doesn’t matter one jot to me.

But lots of other people don’t like accidentally being drawn in to commenting on a zombie thread.

No big deal either way, imo.
