HELP Squirrel in my house

Pest control put a trap next to chimney breast to catch a squirrel and it’s escaped from
the cage and hiding somewhere in my living room. Pest control can’t come till later this afternoon. What should I do? ( I have a toddler and a baby).

Open the window or door and let it find its own way out surely.

I agree with pp. Open windows, it will leave on it's own eventually

I’m worried about it damaging my furniture and flooring. I have the back door open but it just wouldn’t go that way. I’ve now lost it. No idea if it’s still in the house or if it left through the back

Put a trail of peanuts leading out the door
