To not want people lighting bonfires during a nice afternoon?

Just that really! Maybe I'm just being a killjoy but I really am not exaggerating when I say there are strong bonfires going every other afternoon where I live, usually from 2pm onward and continuing on the few nice days we've had. I'll have the windows open to try and air the house out a bit and the house gets filled with smoke, I'm also sure they're burning plastic from the smell.

I put a post about it in our Facebook page and have been summarily mocked by everyone, calling me a child and saying if I haven't lived here all my life I need to get over it and it's just part of living in the countryside?!

I have absolutely no problem with a bonfire but I just feel like it would be more reasonable to light one after 8pm or so, or when it's a greyer day 😅 AIBU, do I need to just suck it up and keep the windows closed? 🔥

YANBU, drives me mad. It always seems to happen when I have the bedding out on the line
