To visit a lockdown area

My family are in Glasgow. We were meant to visit my mum on Saturday but the new rules mean we cannot visit at home. She’s feeling quite down, but she is in a “bubble” with my brother and his family so she isn’t entirely isolated.

I still want to visit, maybe go to a pub for lunch or go to a park so she can see her grandson, but DH says no going to glasgow.

Aibu to still want to go?

You may be able to go in two or three weeks time, given it is being reviewed weekly. I agree with your DH.

I suggest in cancelling you set a new date, perhaps at the end of the month, so your DM does not think you are avoiding visiting for any other reason.

Dylaninthemovies1 · 01/09/2020 22:20

Absolutely we’ll set a new date. Just really feel so guilty not going to see her. I know she was so looking forward to seeing my son. And he was excited about seeing her and his cousin

I disagree. Even in Nicola’s address, she suggested it not be called a lockdown. The restrictions are on visiting in people’s homes. I would meet up outdoors, being especially cautious about distances and hygiene.

CherryPieface · 01/09/2020 22:23

Outside meet-ups are fine, so are pubs, restaurants etc. They are simply trying to clamp down on house parties.

LouiseTrees · 01/09/2020 22:30

Is she actually in Glasgow ? ...because if she’s in somewhere like East Kilbride,Cambuslang or Rutherglen they all have Glasgow postcodes but they are in South Lanarkshire and not affected

Also this.

Glasgow isn't a lockdown area. Only visiting inside people's homes is prohibited and will be reviewed in 2 weeks. You can stay in hotels, meet up in restaurants, pubs and parks etc

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 01/09/2020 22:39

I'd go. This is getting ridiculous now.

Jellycatspyjamas · 01/09/2020 22:41

You can meet somewhere outside of her home - just follow SD guidance for the place you decide to go to.

This website is useful at seeing cases in different areas. It's still a very small percentage

Its only East Ren, West Dun and Glasgow City councils so if she's not in any of these you are free to visit.

Caplin · 01/09/2020 22:51

Bars and restaurants are still open, you can meet at 2 households (8 people) in a pub/restaurant.

It isn’t a lockdown, it is a restriction on being in people’s homes.

Dylaninthemovies1 · 03/09/2020 19:05

She’s definitely in Glasgow.

I’m not really getting why it’s still ok to go to pubs but not my mums house though

Because track and trace is showing that transmission in Glasgow, West Dun and East Renfrewshire can be traced back to people visiting people’s homes, but pubs and coffee shops.

Jellycatspyjamas · 03/09/2020 19:18

not pubs and coffee shops
