Holiday in Lanzarote?

DS wants to go to Lanzarote in a couple weeks time and I'm not keen on the idea.

Can anyone tell me what the situation is like? Aren't they going back into lockdown? Are all amenities/bars and clubs open?

I do not feel that DS should be going there really all things considered and want to change his mind!!!

I'm sure I read its possibly going to be on lockdown due to a spike in covid cases.

He may not be able to go there. Google is your friend.

I have family there at the moment. It’s quiet and a lot of restaurants and bars aren’t open. Apparently there has been a spike in new cases on the island, so Arrecife is going into local lockdown and the local police are enforcing the wearing of masks at all times. Saying that, my family don’t regret going, even though they will have to quarantine when they return to the UK.

I got back from Lanzarote nearly two weeks ago (almost finished quarantine). About 70% of all the bars and restaurants were open. The beaches were very quiet so very easy to social distance.

You have to wear a mask everywhere unless you are swimming/sunbathing/eating or exercising (running) but it wasn't a problem. The local police will stop you if you aren't wearing a mask.

It was a lovely relaxing holiday, unsurprisingly very quiet - most of the other tourists were from Germany or main land Spain.

On our complex we had to pre book sunbeds by the pool for 3-4 HR times slots which was actually brilliant as no searching for a free sun bed.

I had booked this holiday almost a year ago and we did consider not going but my work was very supportive. There was a lot more open there than I thought.
