use of the word overrated in an effort to show you have better taste than other people

There are a number of things that many other people like that I don't (high heeled shoes, camping holidays, Boris Johnson!) But there are many people who dislike these things as well! The one thing that most people like that I absolutely detest is BIRTHDAYS (mine specifically). I can't bear to have my transition from one age to another marked as a social occasion!!! I also see little point in a Special Day for people to 'show they care'. If they really care, they care every day and don't need a special day for it!
