Never ceases to amaze me how fiercely loyal people seem to be to Ocado, or any other particular company for that matter.
They have been getting a lot of flack on social media because of the waitrose partnership ending, but TBH it was waitrose who chose to end the partnership.
As for waitrose increasing their fleet, I highly doubt it as they’re going to be trialling deliveries on Deliveroo from tomorrow - a twelve week trial in certain parts of the country and then extending if it works.
Ocado’s handling of the COVID crisis was abismal. Not so much the lack of delivery slots but the people, including their regular shoppers and some on the vulnerable list, they turned away because in their opinion they don’t spend enough, even though I’ve seen a post from at least one poster here who spent around £100 a year over the past number of years and is shielding and told she wasn’t eligible to be on their priority list.
They broke their app which means that many who use that preferred method are unable to, and yes, it’s available now to a select few but only a few with no timeline as to when it will be coming back, according to a response I received on twitter.
You can no longer add to orders on their website which means you have to put in a complete order at the time you book the delivery slot. They have been doing their picking and packing via some automated system now rather than by hand meaning substitutions and missing items are commonplace where they used to be almost unheard of.
All in all, apart from the products, they have 0 redeemable features.
All the supermarkets have had issues in this crisis, I have been shopping with Tesco, and Tesco are the one who have increased their workforce and deliveries massively over lockdown, but I also know that some have struggled to get delivery slots there.
But tbh Ocado don’t have anything the other supermarkets don’t, and are over-hyped.
