There’s nothing wrong with the picture - I quite like it.

But it’s not suitable to ask for as a present from his Mum.

As it’s an old auction listing no longer active it doesn’t matter either way as it’s already sold.
Curious how your DH managed to find such an old listing as I assume it’s not exactly promoted. He must’ve really been looking hard for that type of lot.

I’d be happy if someone bought me that painting. I love it.

It's an excellent painting, I like fine art painting. Some older artists painted many slightly erotic paintings of women years ago. This painting is lovely. I would love it on my wall. Oldie woman here, who likes good art.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, so no need for naff comments about a woman on her bed in a painting that is very clever and artistic.

Art preferences are very personal. As a compromise how about the following:

1. Whenever your DH want to look at something like that picture, then you lie down and strip naked, spread your legs and have have a wank

1. You spend the money on something you think more generally acceptable for all the family

This could be a win-win?

'Good' art is very very subjective though. What one person thinks of as a glorious, lush, colourful, well painted subject, someone else wiill think of as brash and obvious.

Taste is very very individual. So nobody can say that anyone else has 'to to' like anything. I've got lots of pencil pictures of crows on my wall. Not for everyone...
