AIB oversensitive or was this a wanky comment?

I have a neurological disease (similar to MS) and I use a mobility scooter as I can't walk I stand for more than a minute or so.

I still have issues about being a young person on a scooter and feel really fragile about it, so I accept I may be over sensitive.

I was queueing for a popular restaurant this week as I had promised my teenager we could go, as she loves it. The queue was long and initially just straight down the street, but as we nearer the front we had to go into a queueing area that sort of looped back round on itself, separated by retractable barriers on metal stands. I hope that makes sense.

The group behind us were quite loud and annoying and were standing too close all the way. As we entered the looping bit, I accidentally hit one of the bases of the stands as it had been pushed out of line. Some kind person moved it out of the way so I could get through.

One of the women behind me said really loudly "hahahahaha, it's like the Wacky Races!" and the whole group started laughing. Several other people in the queue also laughed.

I know it sounds silly but I was mortified and it really upset me; but I don't know if it's because I'm just so sensitive about having to use mobility equipment.

Her level of humour sounds base. Maybe you should modify it a la wacky races and have pointy things come out of the wheels to repay such moronic comments.

Yankathebear · 30/08/2020 17:26

It was a wanky comment. I would imagine that the person saying it has no idea what an idiot they are.

DrManhattan · 30/08/2020 17:28

I would be laughing at them, with their out of date cultural reference. The dick heads.

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 30/08/2020 17:29

Definitely a wanky comment.

BritWifeinUSA · 30/08/2020 17:30

It’s not particularly polite and it was insensitive but I’ve had a lot worse. At least you never have to see her ever again. Sounds like they were a bit tipsy anyway.

Gizlotsmum · 30/08/2020 17:31

Def a wanky comment. Bet they couldn't have done it... They will mature and realise they are a bellend hopefully.

Sunnyrainshowers · 30/08/2020 17:44

Flowers they are wankers

TheHappyHerbivore · 30/08/2020 17:45

YANBU, she was crass and a twat. Says absolutely everything about her and not a single thing about you!

SewingWarriorQueen76 · 30/08/2020 18:04

They are Twats, and will always be. I now always say, There We Are Then, see twats Grin

ThickFast · 30/08/2020 18:05

Yep. Twats.

AnneTwacky · 30/08/2020 18:18

It was a stupid comment but I don't think it was malicious.

Yes, they're an idiot, but I would try and leave it in the past for your own benefit.

Thunderspuds · 30/08/2020 18:38

I'm sorry, that's horrible. Definitely not you being over-sensitive at all.
