Just that really. I’ve a law degree (but worked in a tangential equally professional highly skilled public sector field) but haven’t worked in an office based role since 2010 as I retrained with a PGCE after having children. Have worked as a teacher for past 10 years, but increasingly want to return to office based work now my family are older (and because most people hate teachers and have little to no respect for them!). Unfortunately the government department I worked for aren’t recruiting and even if they were I would probably have to start right at the bottom again as they have a decentralised recruitment policy so my past experience would count for very little if anything. So have been looking at returnships In the private sector (likes of Deutsche Bank, etc as briefly worked in corporate banking pre uni and quite enjoyed it) and wondering if I am too old (am 44) or have been out of game for too long. Has anyone done it successfully? Or is it just a crazy middle aged pipe dream?
