Are you sending your children into school with hand sanitiser?

Just that. Many of my friends are sending their children in with hand gel which I totally get.

DC's school aren't really allowing anything to be brought into school. They can take a coat, book bag and pe bag and that's it. No backpacks, drinks bottles, infants aren't allowed to take pack lunch boxes but juniors are!

They haven't mentioned whether hand sanitiser should be brought in so I assumed it wasn't allowed.

Dc went back to school for a few weeks end of term. They had sanitiser stations there and they were encouraged to wash their hands at the sink and use gel very regularly so tbh I didn't feel they needed to take any.

seems trivial but are schools expecting primary school age children to bring it in also? Or discouraging it?

Obviously I can ask but mine aren't due back for over a week. No one regularly in the school yet I don't think!

Or just have parents who don't give a shit - kids with crap parents have been utterly forgotten with all the "clear pencil cases" and the likes rules

Yes so many kids screwed before they even walk through the door. Most of which are probably the ones who would benefit the most from an education to allow them to break the cycles Sad

no, because my dc school installed a long sink (the kind used at festivals) at the entrance and anyone entering the building has to wash hands.
plus every class room has a sink&soap&towels.

I've always voluntarily sent in pencils and supplies for DD2 because it means she has pencils she can actually grasp better - and I know she's a pencil chewer so at least she's chomping her own. School have offered to try to source the ones she copes best with but it's a strain on their budget and it's just as easy for me to keep a supply at home - but that's something we do voluntarily to make everyone's lives easier.

At the moment her arm is splinted because she's just fractured her wrist so no idea how that one's going to work with handwashing - I've left it with school and I hope they'll be practical with it (she needs someone to help her re-do the splint but of course that involves a brief foray into personal space) - otherwise I can see me having a couple of weeks of having to sit outside with the soap and water ready all day every day!

@leiaskye

Yes. My DD13 told me there were kids spitting in the dispensers before lockdown.

No one should have to put up with that, so she’ll have some in her bag.

I can't understand why some kids gate school...
latticechaos · 30/08/2020 20:23

Grr, gate = hate

MushMonster · 30/08/2020 20:24

Yes

AveEldon · 30/08/2020 20:27

For secondary - yes
Primary - no

DD2 (9) will be going in with her own soap as the school one made he4 hands like sandpaper. It took me ages to get them back to normal as she hates hand cream.

I have bought individual bottles for the girls with their names on, DS will have a plain one for college.

EvilPea · 30/08/2020 20:31

Secondary: yes been asked to
Primary: no.

Would sooner they washed their hands with soap and water. With occasional gel use.

Mine are taking their own, and my own high school are asking parents to do what they can. As a teacher I am being given 250ml a week for my classroom and I see over 200 at least 3 times a week.

I've just bought 15 litres from Amazon.
