Are you sending your children into school with hand sanitiser?

Just that. Many of my friends are sending their children in with hand gel which I totally get.

DC's school aren't really allowing anything to be brought into school. They can take a coat, book bag and pe bag and that's it. No backpacks, drinks bottles, infants aren't allowed to take pack lunch boxes but juniors are!

They haven't mentioned whether hand sanitiser should be brought in so I assumed it wasn't allowed.

Dc went back to school for a few weeks end of term. They had sanitiser stations there and they were encouraged to wash their hands at the sink and use gel very regularly so tbh I didn't feel they needed to take any.

seems trivial but are schools expecting primary school age children to bring it in also? Or discouraging it?

Obviously I can ask but mine aren't due back for over a week. No one regularly in the school yet I don't think!

Our secondary have said they have them but if pupils can take their own even better. Primary haven’t said anything but I’ve got both girls ones that attach to their bags/book bags in case.

talkingkrustydoll · 29/08/2020 20:39

No.

Kaktus · 29/08/2020 20:40

No, they are washing their hands properly with soap and water at least 6 times a day.

PinkiOcelot · 29/08/2020 20:41

Yes. Dd is secondary and has always taken it in her bag so will continue to do so.

yeOldeTrout · 29/08/2020 20:42

How do they spit in the dispensers? Confused

No = my answer to OP's question.

whirlwindwallaby · 29/08/2020 20:42

No

MrsTravers · 29/08/2020 20:42

No, they have access to soap and water, which are much more effective. And not quite as harsh on their skin.

Cecilia2016 · 29/08/2020 20:44

Mine will be taking it and the school are encouraging them to bring it in and also my children are have been using it for few years now

Paddy1234 · 29/08/2020 20:46

We have been told they need to have a little bottle!

Uptheshard · 29/08/2020 20:48

What a good idea hadn't thought of that!

SparkyBlue · 29/08/2020 20:49

We've been asked to send each child in with their own hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes

AreSchoolsBackYet · 29/08/2020 20:50

Yes but I doubt they will use it

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 29/08/2020 20:50

Nope.

They will wash their hands in the classroom at various points during the day. (Primary)

netflixismysidehustle · 29/08/2020 20:52

Mine are secondary and have been told to bring in hand sanitiser for personal use

vinoandbrie · 29/08/2020 20:53

No, school will provide all the necessary and we’ve been told not to (private school though).

Neveranynamesleft · 29/08/2020 20:58

Cant you just ring the school and ask ??

cinders222 · 29/08/2020 21:03

My little girl has a little hook on bottle on her bag which she uses as says schools smells like rotting flesh.

Meredusoleil · 29/08/2020 21:04

Primary no.
Secondary yes.

MillieEpple · 29/08/2020 21:07

Yes. Its on the uniform and pencil case list. They have strike cards and if they dont have all the uniform/kit they get a strike. 3 strikes equals a detention..

olivesnutsandcheese · 29/08/2020 21:12

Our school (junior) have asked us to provide hand sanitizer, tissues and a pritt stick.

crazychemist · 29/08/2020 21:12

No, because I know the school has plenty of soap and water and will be making sure the kids (primary) wash their hands plenty during the day.

I hope that the kids at my school (teach at secondary) don’t. Before lockdown, I despaired of all the kids who wouldn’t wash their hands because they were using gel instead. Nowhere near enough alcohol content in almost every case (I actually asked my Y7s to get theirs out, it was a biology lesson so vaguely relevant - not a single on had enough alcohol) and there were several that were just aloe Vera or similar, so no alcohol at all! The stuff our school is providing does dry your hands a bit, but that’s because it’s actually got enough alcohol in to be effective. There’s also plenty of soap and water in the loos.

Lovely way to treat people who have either -
lost friends or family to civid
Lost their jobs

In debt due to interest after their mortgage holiday

In debt after waiting three months fir self employment packages.

Unable to go shopping due to shielding.

Delivery times delayed thanks to covid

And generally just skint cos not even the fsm vouchers worked properly

Have delayed purchasing due to uncertainty as cant afford to waste money

ekidmxcl · 29/08/2020 21:17

Our secondary requires all kids to carry sanitiser at all times. If you don’t have it, they give it to you and you’ll be charged for it.

I would think in primary, there would be dispensers on the walls.

MillieEpple · 29/08/2020 21:17

Roswellconspiracy - my son says they get their policies from the prison service

EachDubh · 29/08/2020 21:33

My two, prinary Scotland, have some 70%+ their classrooms don't have any hot water and they can take it into playground.
In my school primary a lot of kids have their own, for a while the authority banned alcohol based gel so everyone was expected to use the useless non alcohol based stuff, we all brought our own.
