To think i haven't got the job if others have heard back?

I applied for an NHS job and had the interview on Tuesday they said I'd hear back by the weekend but I've heard nothing. There are multiple vacancies and another girl I know applied for the job and heard back that she's got it. Is it unlikely I've got the job?

I think it's hard to read much into it, if there are multiple vacancies.

DelphiniumBlue · 29/08/2020 15:54

Phone them or email. This has happened to me, ( not NHS) and I just wanted confirmation that I hadn't got the job, whereas in fact I had got and there was some delay in notifying me due to some sort of admin issue.
You won't lose anything by asking.

RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 29/08/2020 16:21

You may have got it but the person phoning you didn't get round to it.
You may be a 'first reserve' and they want to get acceptances back from those offered before they inform you
of
You may have not got it.

From what you have said all options are pretty equal. Phone or wait. If you have they will be happy to tell you, if you haven't it won't make any difference. Or they may say they are still deliberating, if the job requires you to be proactive, it will count in your favour.

Di11y · 29/08/2020 16:22

Likely to be a first reserve and they're waiting on confirmation from first choice

AreSchoolsBackYet · 29/08/2020 16:22

They are very lackadaisical with recruiting at the mo! I wouldnt assume your haven't got it. Good luck

ChangeThePassword · 29/08/2020 16:41

I was in the same boat, and the reason I hadn't heard is that I was second choice, and they were waiting for the first choice to decide.

CandyLeBonBon · 29/08/2020 16:45

I'm in the same boat too. Went for an interview nearly 2 weeks ago and have had no response in spite of emailing! It's really frustrating.

FOJN · 29/08/2020 16:46

I think if you definitely hadn't got it they would have let you know. I use to do some interviews for positions in our department when I worked in the NHS and we would try to get telephone references for successful candidates, maybe they couldn't get hold of you referee.

OneKeyAtATime · 29/08/2020 16:51

What Reality said. You could be one of the three

FlorenceNightshade · 29/08/2020 16:53

Don’t give up hope! You might have got it but if you’re worried email them and ask for feedback. Keep us posted

Namechange0h8 · 29/08/2020 18:32

Thank you everyone for replying! If i don't hear anything by Tuesday I will send an email. I will keep you posted!

Livy178 · 29/08/2020 18:36

I work for the NHS and interview regularly and I always say that we only contact the successful candidate and give a time frame for the call but by all means candidates are welcome to call for feedback

FlorenceNightshade · 29/08/2020 19:09

@Livy178 After every interview I’ve ever had for the NHS I’ve received a phone call explaining the outcome. Perhaps it varies by trust?

BashfulClam · 29/08/2020 19:51

DH works for the nhs right now on a temp contract. Had the interview in a Wednesday and was told would hear by the Monday. No word so thought it was not going to happen. He heard the following week instead, then the hassle started lol.

Namechange0h8 · 30/08/2020 19:07

So I now know of someone else who has also got the job, this is looking more and more unlikely isn't it? Sad. I'm fine waiting for news usually and am usually patient as well but I think I'm just a bit miffed that people have been told they've got the job but I haven't been told anything!

OP posts:
FlorenceNightshade · 30/08/2020 19:22

Just get in touch with them and ask for feedback. Start with an email and phone if no response. Just don’t be too cheeky incase you are successful or first reserve!

2gorgeousboys · 30/08/2020 19:57

DH recently appointed for a number of NHS vacancies. He contacted those that were definitely unsuccessful immediately i.e the next day. He then spoke to those offered the job over the following few days once he'd got reference information back.

If you've not heard anything back on Tuesday maybe give them a call.

GreyGardens88 · 30/08/2020 19:59

Well they have probably delayed informing you you have been unsuccessful as you're the back up in case one of the other candidates pulls out

Namechange0h8 · 30/08/2020 20:01

Im going to wait until Tuesday and just start with an email so I don't seem desperate (which I am). Personally I think the interview went well but when I declared my disability (wouldn't affect my ability to do the job) the whole tone changed completley

Just a quick update I still haven't heard anything so sent an email to the recruitment person yesterday, fingers crossed I get some feedback!

Good luck!!

OfTheNight · 02/09/2020 10:07

Good luck! In my first job I was told I’d hear within two days but they had some admin issues and I ended up waiting over a week! It’s not fun when your the person hanging on for confirmation. I hope they get back to you soon.

CandyLeBonBon · 02/09/2020 15:42

I still have t heard either Op and it's been 2 weeks! I don't mind being told I was unsuccessful but it's pretty shit not hearing anything at all! Fingers crossed you have good news soon

Did you apply online? Usually you have to go through the website (NHS jobs or Trac) to get the outcome

Fingers crossed though

Namechange0h8 · 02/09/2020 15:49

Hi everyone I got the job!!
