So I’m just going to list a few things here so you get a better idea:

  • retail showroom manager
  • central London
  • selling luxury products (as in if you have to as how much things are you can’t afford it)
  • small team so busy busy busy
  • driving sales
  • loads of admin
  • displays/new product launches
  • small company so you got to cover others if they are on holiday
  • general showroom running crap
  • you need great interpersonal skills
  • full time 40hrs/week

How much do you think this person should be earning ?

35 to 40k

hammeringinmyhead · 28/08/2020 21:40

It's fairly similar to most retail manager jobs tbh. I'll say about £30k.

FarTooSkinny · 28/08/2020 21:40

Doesn't sound particularly skilled. £25k or so?

BooFuckingHoo2 · 28/08/2020 21:40

30k ish

PlanDeRaccordement · 28/08/2020 21:42

If it’s just managing a showroom within a boutique shop and not the entire shop, I’d say £25-28k.
If it’s shop manager of a boutique which includes a showroom, then agree with ms marks above.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 28/08/2020 21:42

30 to 35k i would think.

Londoner90 · 28/08/2020 21:43

Ah okay sorry, you need to have a degree/ previous solid experience of the industry. It not just scanning and selling...

yelyah22 · 28/08/2020 21:44

I'd imagine a base of ~£20-22k with very good commission in an environment like that.

It's still 'just' a sales job, but I've added the fact that it's London in - most of the things listed there are standard retail sales things, except the environment, hence why I'd expect the commission would be good.

Of course, if it's mega mega high end (supercars, yachts, heirloom watches) then I imagine it's more about relationship management with ongoing clients so I'd say quite a bit more.

Why would you need a degree to be a shop assistant?
yelyah22 · 28/08/2020 21:45

Hmm okay if it's specialised enough to require a specific degree and industry knowledge maybe £25-30k with good commission. I assumed most sales jobs were based on commission (or target driven bonuses)!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/08/2020 21:47

30k

yelyah22 · 28/08/2020 21:47

I can't think of what would require a specific degree for sales - wine? Is a wine degree a thing? Gemstones?

Ragwort · 28/08/2020 21:47

Around £25k, is there commission on top?

Retail is notoriously badly paid ... people often say its 'unskilled work' but really good sales people are not easy to find.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/08/2020 21:49

Why a degree? My mate who is a very successful sales bod is the on,y one of his friends without a degree.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/08/2020 21:49

And he earns a fortune.

ShalomToYouJackie · 28/08/2020 21:49

About 25K

What degree do you need to be a retail manager?

MsVestibule · 28/08/2020 21:50

Why would you need a degree to be a shop assistant?

It's pretty clear from the first line of the job description that it's a managerial role, not that of a shop assistant.

HyaluronicHippo · 28/08/2020 21:52

£38/44k

Londoner90 · 28/08/2020 21:52

Sorry it’s quite a specific industry... no it’s not wine, luxury yachts or jewellery but there is only a very few showrooms like this in London. And yes, you need to be qualified and skilled to be able to drive sales.

ComtesseDeSpair · 28/08/2020 21:53

Difficult to say. A friend is an experienced luxury retail manager with duties much as you describe and earns around £65k plus great commission, based in Knightsbridge. She doesn’t think of that as terribly unusual for somebody with her experience and skill set working in the industry. However, she spent many years when less experienced and working with other brands doing essentially the same role for half the money. Luxury retail apparently attracts lots of smart young people willing to work for relatively pay for the chance to rub shoulders with celebs and the super wealthy.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/08/2020 21:53

£30-35k

steff13 · 28/08/2020 21:54

40K plus commission. Why do you ask?

RatInADollhouse · 28/08/2020 21:55

Oh how I love a mysterious OP 🙄

Rainonplain · 28/08/2020 21:56

£60k plus benefits and bonus
