I have a lump in my throat and now deafness in my ear and tingling in the right side of my face. I saw my GP who referred me to ENT, the appointment line rang me and offered me various locations so I chose one with decent parking. I then had a phone call from the place I had chosen saying that the consultants were not holding any ENT appointments due to Covid at the moment, however I could go private tomorrow with one of them!
I checked his website, it will cost £195 for an initial consultation and then £250 for the investigation that my GP wants me to have.
So it seems it's safe for him to carry out the procedure privately but not via NHS! I've been told I may get an appointment in one of the other locations in December at the earliest.
I am really shocked by this, my GP surgery have been brilliant but it looks like unless you have money, you have no chance. I'm probably going to have to put it on my credit card as I am worried about the symptoms and don't want to leave it but AIBU to wonder why this is allowed to happen? Anyone else had the same problem?
