Aibu to think that if my furlough letter stated that I will be furloughed up to Aug 31st minimum that’s someone should have been in touch to tell me I am due back on Monday? Am I meant to guess? I sent an email to HR yesterday asking and NO ONE has bothered there backside answering!Angry

I would've assumed you will be contacted when you are to go back, as it says minimum, so you'll be back then at the earliest.

Todaythiscouldbe · 28/08/2020 11:45

Are you due back? I read that as you won't be back until you are advised.

WaterOffADucksCrack · 28/08/2020 11:50

Can you call them and ask? They may not have picked up the email if they are busy. I wouldn't get irate about it!

HoratiotheHorsefly · 28/08/2020 11:51

So your letter says the earliest date you will be going back is 31st August, no one has contacted you so I'd imagine your furlough is going to continue past the 31/8.

WhiteWishes · 28/08/2020 11:52

I would assume that as 31st August was the EARLIEST you would be asked back, and you haven't been yet, that your furlough is to continue for now until they contact you.

Florencex · 28/08/2020 11:54

I would ring them and ask.

CookieMumsters · 28/08/2020 11:57

You emailed yesterday, and are already annoyed that noone has responded? Maybe they're finding out what the answer is?

GreyGardens88 · 28/08/2020 11:58

When were you furloughed? My employer sent me an email every month with an update, well until I was made redundant.

I would be pulling my hair out if i was you Flowers

wormshuffled · 28/08/2020 12:00

You are not being unreasonable at all. Same thing happened to me.. I had no communication at all unless I had instigated it. I heard on the grapevine they wanted my back at start of Sept but have given up on them and found another (much better) job.

These employers have no thought for the mental health of the people they've left dangling, and when I've mentioned to real life friends how annoyed and quite frankly depressed I am by it, they just roll their eyes and say I should just be glad I'm getting paid.... Which I am, but that's down to the government not the employer.

SalterWatcher · 28/08/2020 12:11

I had a similar situation I just called my boss yesterday and was nice to chat actually

They're back next week on 1st but I'll go back 7th when kids back at school.

Think he would have liked me back the 1st but gets it's easier if they're back at school for me to work! So yeah just call them?

Initially the 13th May for three weeks then pretty much every month I received an extension.

I am not so annoyed that they have not answered yesterday but more that they have ignored me for the last 4 months and I don’t know if I am expected to go back or not. I don’t want to go back but not be expected, honestly I just want clarity on my position. Their communication is shocking.

Yes I get that a lot too. I am in the process of hopefully being offered a job but that’s taking time too and might not happen.

I didn’t want to be furloughed, it was a profit saving thing from my work not a company savings thing. They have had good H1 numbers over the world. My colleagues are harassed and too busy but yes my real life friends just think paid extra holiday where as I just feel ignored and unappreciated. DHs work have done it so much better.
