Baby aged 43

I’m currently pregnant with my first child and will be 41 when born.

I’d love a second but is 43 really just too old? Would love to hear positive stories!

When I read the thread title I thought it was going to be about the infantile behaviour of a 43 year old husband!

MakeItRain · 28/08/2020 08:13

I had my second at 42 and I've never once felt too old!

Go for it, I had a baby at 43, smooth pregnancy and delivery, everyone is different but don't let your age alone put you off.

It has been known, bobbie! Grin

I had my 2nd baby at nearly 42 but had been trying for 3 years with multiple mc. My mental cutoff age for trying was 43. I don't think it's too old but think about how long you are prepared to try. My mental health did suffer and I feel guilt at being absent or distracted from DC1 while going through the process. DC2 is worth it all and I couldn't ever regret it, but if I had never had a successful pregnancy again it might have been hard to reconcile.

I am expecting now at 41 and I don't think I could do it again. We had two miscarriages before this one and each was heartbreaking.

I had an easy pregnancy at 38 and assumed it would be easy when we tried again at 39.

41 is my cut off and if this one doesn't work we won't try again. But we have been through losses and that changes my view on how age and pregnancy is

On similar lines I thought someone's child was 43 but still their baby. Though it was going to be a cute story about how it doesn't matter how old they are they're still our babies 😂

@bobbiester me too!

And OP 43 is not too old! What is too old anyway. Go for it, you won't regret it.

I've lost count of the older mums I know. All happy and healthy. It's fine, as long as you're fine with it.
