@Handsoffisback

What is that murder I’m thinking of from the 70s (I think?) where a man broke into a remote farmhouse and over the course of a few days killed a husband, wife and the wife’s elderly parents and I think their children as well? I’m sure the wife or husband went to work in the meantime aswell? Have I dreamt this?
Probably, it sounds quite unlikely.
Zaphodsotherhead · 30/08/2020 14:28

Sadly I find it only too easy to believe that people can just disappear. Bodies aren't that hard to dispose of if you have the time and the resources, sadly.

No, I've definitely read about that case too. He was an escaped prisoner or something.

You're not thinking of Hinterkaifeck are you?

Not the 70's, but that might just have been when you heard of it. 1922.

Where did you see the new date ? when I looked he was due to be executed ealy January 2019 then a new date for the 15th Jan 2019 but this was given the Stay of Execution

His lawyers also claimed he was intellectually disabled and therefore ineligible for execution

There was a dispute about the bite marks too .

So , the likelihood , after being in prison over 12 years will they execute a man if they can prove he has medical grounds ?

OutOntheTilez · 30/08/2020 14:40

I saw a TV show a couple of years ago where they explored the theory that the Dyatlov Pass incident was because of a Russian Yeti attack. Not that I believe it, just that mention of the incident on here reminded me of that show and the theory put forth.

Was it this one?

This is the one I was thinking of. Horrific!

Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon
Who disappeared whilst hiking in panama in 2014. Only bits of them found several months later.
No one knows what happened to them and it is very unlikely anyone ever will.

I'm a bit obsessed with crime/killers... I wonder sometimes if it's normal 😦🙈

OohKittens · 30/08/2020 15:08

@Mindblowninbrisvegas to me that 100% was a set up. The murdered woman was having an affair with the wife of a police officer. The police officer had a twin brother who was seen near the house. It is all very strange. Another one I 100% believe was a set up is the man who was charged for the murders in 89 on the pembrokeshire coast path and the 85 murder of siblings at scoveston park on the outskirts of Milford Haven. He was set up I have researched both cases, watched the crime watch appeals of the time and as far as I'm concerned it was not him. Yes he went to prison for burglary but that doesn't make him a murderer. I've spoken to so many people also who knew him and knew the crimes. They were committed by different people. In January they were filming in the area for an itv dramatisation I don't know when it will be on though.

Poppi Worthington, and her father was never brought to justice . Still walking the streets.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/08/2020 15:16

Ahh 21/01/21 .

So they must have dis-proved the defence of Intellectual Disability .

I know you cannot believe everything on the press but the planning was premeditated , they sold items to pay for a Priest to exorcise then he decided to do it himself.
He blocked the mother out from the room .

There are heartbreaking reports on the injury caused to this baby but I won't post any as they are searchable

I am 100% in favour of the Death Penalty in cases like this .
And hopefully Justice will prevail .

OohKittens · 30/08/2020 15:17

Poppi worthington is absolutely heart breaking.
@PhilSwagielka when I looked after her she wasn't involved in any drug use or anything of concern, she was moved from the area where she was looked after and taken to Ipswich by family - sorry can't say any more but being in care wasn't the source of her problems
I think we're talking about different people. I'm talking about a sixth woman who knew all five of the victims.

OohKittens · 30/08/2020 16:09

@Handsoffisback it is so awful it makes me angry. I'm pretty sure his family are active in campaigning for the case to be looked at. It's clear as day he was set up it's just sick.

Anyone else constantly shocked by the massive difference in U.K. sentencing as opposed to US

Absolutely they will. His conviction and sentence still stand. Most death row inmates launch appeal after appeal - because they gave absolutely nothing to lose. Some do “volunteer” (waive their rights to appeal and accept execution) but he reason people sit on death row for so long (and 12 years is actually very short, the average is close to 20 years and there are many who have been on the row for 30+ years, many die of old age or heart attacks, cancer, etc before their execution date comes around) is because of the myriad of appeals that they go through. They even file law sits against the prison over trivial matters such as food or mail privileges, anything to delay the inevitable. But, ultimately, if the state of Texas (as is the case here) wants you dead, the state of Texas will achieve that.

They won’t be able to prove he has medical grounds to be ineligible for the death penalty. It’s just a stalling tactic.

runningtogetskinny · 30/08/2020 16:47

@PhilSwagielka sorry, I mean one of the victims not the woman who was interviewed (though the victim I'm talking about was interviewed on TV about the other women before she was murdered) it still upsets me now to think of how her life ended, one of the photographs used of her was around the time I cared for her, it was awful walking into shops and seeing her looking back at me from the front page of the newspaper

Izzabellasasperella · 30/08/2020 16:52

@Handsoffisback I'm not sure. Most people here believe he was murdered or killed with one punch by the drug dealer.
I knew the guy at school(we went out briefly)
Later on he had a fearsome reputation. Everyone was scared of him. I used to chat to him sometimes at parties. He became a heroin addict and died from an overdose. I sometimes wonder did he take it to forget? Then again the rumours about his involvement happened after his death I think. Easy for the Police to point the finger at a dead addict.
I found the documentary interesting. I wish someone would come forward and tell the truth. His poor Mum and family. I cried reading her book.
