Working on holiday

My DH has been working in the afternoons while we are on holiday. I’ve been playing with DC or reading so not doing much, but then he has a few drinks (I’m not as still early and getting ready to go out) gets loud and irritating. I then end up feeling bad because I’m irritated with him. But I just feel like we haven’t connected and it’s meant to be family time. He’s been working every weekend up til the holiday as well. I usually don’t mind as my job is demanding and I have other stuff to do at weekends but the work he is doing now is not urgent. AIBU to feel fed up with him

There’s two separate things here - the work and then the drinking and associated lariness. I wouldn’t love DH to be working while we’re on a family holiday, but then if you’re just chilling and reading or playing with the DC (and happy to be doing that) then it doesn’t sound as if it’s impeding on you. But if the early drinking is making him irritating - that’s more of an issue, in my view. Irritating how?

He gets loud and it’s hard to have a proper conversation with him. It just feels like I can’t connect and I feel a bit exasperated.
