To think this proves Johnson hasn't got a clue about education

"Mr Johnson told pupils they needed to be in school to think about ideas and questions - such as "Is Harry Potter sexist? The answer is no, by the way.""

What happened to encouraging independent thought and discussion ? He really hasn't got a clue, no adult with half a brain cell would shut down independent thought like that.

He was primarily a journalist with all that entails. Then a politician. He'll retire even richer. He's not an educationalist, nor an administrator. He did get a lot of votes. Voters sometimes get what they deserve, for good and ill.

How is Harry Potter sexist? Confused

JamieLeeCurtains · 26/08/2020 21:35

Apparently the school librarian lined up visible books behind him like The Twits Grin

he hasn't a clue about anything. I would like to know if he has any interests ; reading, sport , music, art. He claimed to make buses out of cardboard boxes, but I assume that was a joke.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/08/2020 22:13

He’s allowed to have an opinion.
And the teenagers I know who have strong views about such things wouldn’t immediately change their mind because the PM said so, they would tell you why he is wrong.

I am no Boris fan but I don’t think his slightly over the top dogmatism would shut down discussion- more likely to do the opposite.

thatone · 26/08/2020 22:20

YANBU - and that's not the only thing he doesn't have a clue about.

Lougle · 26/08/2020 22:22

Well personally, I've always been puzzled by the supine stem of confetti, so I think he's on to something....

MrsJakeLovell · 26/08/2020 22:25

Unfortunately it appears that the bus building was far more sinister than a ‘joke’ as an internet search no longer brings up the £350 million for the nhs infamous Brexit bus.

He did something similar with bridges to Ireland I believe.

It is truly frightening the control on information ‘they’ exert...and you’re not even aware.

itsgettingweird · 26/08/2020 22:26

Those book titles 🤣

Far to co incidental to be a co incidence!

For a start you wouldn't normally find the twits alongside faranheight 451!

JamieLeeCurtains · 26/08/2020 22:35

Well I'm loving the school librarian right now. Or their 14 year old helper for the day who knows about literature, politics and history (and knows they'll never get into Oxford to read Classics).

I think he is just way out of his depth he is trying to connect with the general population. Which given his background he hasn’t a hope of understanding until he is prepared to listen.
