Pregnancy test after possible MC

Apologies, posting for traffic as I only have a quick break before my late shift and google is giving mixed results. I believe I had a miscarriage yesterday and if I did, it's important for me to let my doctors know if it's likely I conceived due to an existing medical condition. If I take a test today, would it be likely to still show pregnancy?

Hey, sorry to hear this, hope your ok. If you had a positive test prior to your suspected miscarriage yesterday, then yes the test would still show positive. It normally takes about 2 weeks after a miscarriage for hormones to go back to normal.

A pregnancy test can be positive up to three weeks after a MMC due to the HCG floating round. I had a D&C and it was positive until bang on three weeks after the procedure. It's cruel. Sorry you've gone through this, OP. Definitely worth seeing your GP.

to confirm a miscarriage the doctor will book you in for 2 blood tests usually 2 or 3 days apart to see whether your HCG is increasing or decreasing.

You'll keep getting a positive pregnancy test for 2 or 3 more weeks though after a miscarriage.

Thanks so much for replying, I've managed to nip to the pharmacy and get a test. With the size of the clot and (retrospective as always) symptoms I feel like I know and it sucks is that because of my illness i have to kind of acknowledge it and tell my GP rather then being blissfully ignorant. It seems I am ridiculously fertile and as an adopted child whose lovely mum (fuck I was so lucky she became my forever mum) who couldn't conceive naturally, despite so wanting to, me seemingly falling easily but always losing feels double cruel. Sorry. Pity party.
