Christmas with merged families

What does everyone do in regards to giving gifts to stepchildren. I am a firm believer in not doing christmas before christmas because it ruins the magic but we don't have dss until new year

What do you all do

What age are we talking about? My kids some years aren't with me til the 27th so we do presents then. If they are v young, they have no idea what date it is, if slightly older they can be told Santa knows about different households etc and if older still, 'magic' isn't really relevant.

2 resident children 3 & 4 years and 1 dss 10 years
