Teens posting singing videos on IG and ridiculous comments

Through someone I know I've fallen into the black hole of Instagram singing videos. Some are good, some I'm cringing at but their followers post comments like "you're so talented," "that was amazing," "best version of this song I've heard" etc.

I get that they want to build the singer up and not post anything negative but surely it's giving the "singer" a false sense of their talent and abilities? If it's someone I know I just click like and move on. I know it's none of my business but I hate seeing young people's hopes built up on mistruths.

So voting:
I am being unreasonable, it's brilliant that strangers post such confidence building comments even though they're not true.

I'm not being unreasonable and they should just like and move on.

I think with something like singing it’s quite subjective. It may not be to your taste, but is it objectively bad?

TheHappyHerbivore out of tune a lot of the time with no control whatsoever is hardly subjective.

Oh god one of the husks I know on Facebook kept posting videos of her singing Bruno Mars songs and she cannot sing at all. I really thought she was posting them for fun until she posted it have removed all my singing videos.....not that anyone cares!’ Yes love you are right we don’t care at all!

I know what you mean, someone on one of my FB groups keeps putting up drawings and they are truly awful. Portraits with eyes different sizes or lopsided. Noses that are too large or to small to match the proportions of the face. Even their landscapes look like a 5 year old has drawn them.
But everyone says howwonderful they are and how talented she is.
I just cringe and pass on.

I didn't get my first phone until I was in my 20s.

Us dinosaurs did similar when we were younger. Just a different medium. Let them be kids :-)

Meh. Let people enjoy things. I think it’s a better world to live in where people do the things they love even if they’re bad at it. If others want to celebrate that, it’s no skin off my nose.
