To want a colourful, patterned sofa?

Still1nLove · 25/08/2020 13:25

I have been looking for ages for a new sofa. I can only find plain covers. I want something patterned, mainly because I love colour and also, to hide marks that the pets and children will make. I want a large corner sofa bed with a colourful pattern, is that too much to ask?

Any suggestions on where to look?

I will try to attach pictures of the kind of thing I want

They dont tend to come in patterns because they wouldnt be popular. Places like DFS just sell things which they will sell a lot of. But you could buy one plain and have it reupholstered?

Do you have an existing sofa the right shape you are looking to replace? Upholstery would then be your best bet...
otherwise I think Loaf do a bespoke fabric service but that will be a lot more £££

Plumbs do bespoke sofa covers.

Anthropologie have some but they’re very pricey!

Look at vintage sofas? Friend of mine decorated a coffee shop and they had a little corner full of lovely comfortable colourful sofas.
All were second hand/vintage.

Buy secondhand and get it reupholstered?

BirthdayCakes · 25/08/2020 14:35

Those Anthropologie sofas are beautiful!

There are online services that make loose covers for Ikea sofas and they often have patterned fabric

I’m afraid I can’t help but just wanted to say that I love the fabric in the middle photo.

DFS sometimes do some really colourful, abstract patterned sofas. I almost bought one last time we were looking, it was fabulous!

SerenDippitty · 25/08/2020 14:39

Seems a lot to pay for something you might tire of quickly and might limit your choice of decor colours. Why not brighten up a neutral coloured sofa with throws/cushions, so that you can ring the changes when you feel like it?

minimagician · 25/08/2020 14:46

Bemz do hundreds of covers for certain Ikea sofas. Different qualities of fabrics, different patterns and different price ranges.

FusionChefGeoff · 25/08/2020 14:54

Another vote for throws and cushions - our sofa is very colourful but only because we've got lots of stuff on it!

PattyPan · 25/08/2020 15:09

Can’t offer suggestions but I have been finding the same thing. We have a red sofa and I’ve been trying to find a sofa bed that will tone in with it but the best I can find is bloody depressing plain grey! PIL have got a bold colour on one sofa and a pattern on the other that incorporates that colour so I thought that would be a good option since it’s impossible to get a perfect match, but I haven’t found any patterns with red in except a red stripe from Loaf which is £££ as PP have said.

Your first pic is actually a sofa cover so you could put it on any sofa. Look at sofa skins.

pawpawpawpaw · 25/08/2020 15:49

Like a pp we bought an IKEA sofa (ours was secondhand from eBay, we wanted a model which had been discontinued) and Bemz covers. Bemz are excellent quality, wash well, wear well etc.

Still1nLove · 25/08/2020 17:25

Thank you all, I’m going to keep an eye out for the sofa I want, shape and size, and then look at throws, skins, maybe even reupholster
