Just realised my jacket is dead - can I get recommendations for a new one?

Hoping for traffic.

Just realised my ancient waterproof jacket has a huge tear in it and can't be repaired.

I'm looking for a durable lightweight waterproof (not just showerproof) coat with a hood that would look nice enough for everyday/school run/ coffee date but also suitable for long walks as we like to do a lot of walking at the weekends rain or shine.
Mid length would be great or at least not too short.

I'm a size 10 so anything in the sale that still has that size in stock is fab!
I'm on a bit of a budget at the moment so aiming for around £50ish.

Does anyone have one or could recommend a brand/website to check out?

What did you have before? Then we will know what sort of style you like

SmellsLikeFeet · 25/08/2020 09:46

Have you got a ganden centre or camping shop near you?
They usually stock nice ones
If not I'd look at joules or bodem

The last one I had I bought 6ish years ago at a market when on holiday. I don't think it was a particular brand but fairly well made as lasted a while. It wasn't particularly nice looking though just practical, and I was a couple of sizes bigger then too.

This time I'd like something a bit nicer looking and flattering in a not too crazy colour - navy/black/khaki would be perfect. I like the length that stops just past or halfway down the bum but I wouldn't mind a longer one if it was nice.

Trespass is pretty decent for the price

I bought a nice insulated rain jacket from Superdry for €57 euro it was reduced from €124.
It is warm and dry I love it.

I have one of these which is worth every penny. Not sure where you live but this never looks out of place in every day life.

FOJN · 25/08/2020 11:41

Seasalt make quite a good selection a bit more expensive but very durable in my experience.

For a budget friendly, less fashionable but good quality waterproof coat I can also recommend Jack Murphy. They do coats in a variety of lengths and they are loved by dog walkers.

Tk Max always seems to have these sort of coats. I got one once ( randomly branded Jessica Simpson) and the next year virtually the same cost but a different brand name. The are waterproof and have a lovely fluffy hood and come in lots of colours.

This is nice, I have it! It's nicer thab it looks online, I sized down and it's actually quite flattering for a puffer jacket.

ItsmineAllmine · 25/08/2020 12:59

Ooh just realised it isn't fully waterproof.

I really like this but probably isn’t waterproof enough

M and S have some nice ones online. The autumn ranges are coming in now.
