The fish restaurants in the harbour are excellent. Your hotel will make a reservation for you, if you ask.

Yes years ago, loved it.

There are lots of lovely restaurants down by the water with fresh fish caught that day.

I am not a huge fish fan so tended toward dolmades (herbed rice cooked in grape leaves), saganaki (fried cheese with a squeeze of lemon juice), souvlaki (kebabs with charcoal cooked meats), and lots and lots of the iced coffees.

I stayed in Platanais which is a few miles away and has a lovely beach.

I've been to Rethymnon a few times and love it. It is quite a big and noisy town but is also great for food and entertainment. Also be aware that curfew in Greece at the moment is midnight so most places start closing before then...

I’ve just come back from there. Lemonokipos is fabulous, we ate there twice. Restaurants on the harbour are a bit touristy and my hotel recommended not to go there.

I went there as a child probably 30 years ago and still remember it, was lovely. Remember the hustle and bustle. Must take my own kids when this bloody Covid has gone!

Thanks so much. I'm actually here now with DD. But there is so much choice I was looking for some help to narrow them down!
