All my life I've walked into tables never been able to balance on one foot or walk in a straight line, throw kick a ball straight, never been able to dance or follow or copy aerobic dance moves never been able to play computer games, its like my mind and body dont interact with each other when it comes to these things and I wondered if there was anyone else as inept as me!I wonder what the reason for it might be as it seems to be linked.how I dont know.any insight welcome!!thank you

This sounds like dyspraxia. Maybe you should get that looked into. It’s not that uncommon 🙂

mbosnz · 24/08/2020 19:01

It is so not just you. I have two left feet. I was left totally embarrassed at my one ever attempt at aerobics - it didn't help that I went with two girls born to dance. . .

Namechanger87851 · 24/08/2020 19:03

You sound like me . I have dyspraxia !

Alifeworthliving · 24/08/2020 19:06

@mbosnz omg me too, went to a zumba classBlushwas an hour long ,instructor actually said to me ,oh it's ok some people just cant do it,think she felt sorry for me.

As PP have suggested it could be dyspraxia, I have it and there's no treatment per say but it could be good for you to know for yourself.

Alifeworthliving · 24/08/2020 19:08

@Clumsyvolcano @Namechanger87851 I've never thought of this, dont actually know anything about it,I shall google!

Oh, have you tried ice-skating?! Watching that poor man try to find something positive to say to me, was excruciating!

EL8888 · 24/08/2020 19:09

Another vote for dyspraxia. I also have

EL8888 · 24/08/2020 19:09

Also Dysgraphia

PumpkinPie2016 · 24/08/2020 19:12

Could be dyspraxia. Can you drive OP?

There isn't a treatment for dyspraxia but it may be helpful for you just to know. Perhaps look online at some info about it which may help even if you don't get a formal diagnosis.

Igmum · 24/08/2020 19:12

Hello me too (waves). DD got diagnosed with dyspraxia a few years ago and I remember reading her diagnosis and mentally ticking all the boxes for me Grin

Florial · 24/08/2020 19:13

Like pp said, it sounds like dyspraxia. I'd never heard of it until one of my DC was diagnosed. Then I realised I probably have it too.

Did you struggle with learning to tie laces, or telling the time on an analogue clock?

Yoga has helped me immensely, although sometimes I'm the one in the class going to the left when the others are going right.

ChaChaCha2012 · 24/08/2020 19:17

Another vote for yoga. It's not going to make it go away but it certainly eases the disconnect.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 24/08/2020 19:19

I have dyspraxia so yes!

Fartleking · 24/08/2020 19:20

A flatmate of mine had dyspraxia plus dyslexia. She did rock climbing specifically because it is meant to help with both somehow.

JammyHands · 24/08/2020 19:22

How’s your hearing? Bad balance and hearing problems are often linked. I have no natural hearing at all and no balance function either.

Jackparlabane · 24/08/2020 19:26

Could be dyspraxia, could be a balance problem like inner ear issues. Hypermobility wouldn't help either.

I've got all those - I stick to swimming and walking for exercise, though a genuine non-judgemental Zumba or fitness class is still quite fun, doing all the low-impact things that mean never being on one leg without holding on. And avoiding yoga/Pilates as I managed to injure myself badly in both (including postnatal gentle versions)

coronabeer23 · 24/08/2020 19:28

Me too. All my life I’ve been called clumsy but I’m certain it’s dyspraxia

isthismylifenow · 24/08/2020 19:32

Oh you sound just like me. I don't know about dysoraxia as I have never thought too much about it. I'm just that person who has no sense of direction, can't dance, can't follow a person doing a dance move (my family think it's hilarious as the lockdown dance things were entertaining with me in them). I am always full of bruises on u legs as I walk into things, drop thing and fall over pretty regularly. I didn't even know there was a name for it. The only thing from your list that I'm OK with is balance. I have done pilates for years so my core is pretty strong. But if I need to stand on one leg to balance I have to really focus on one spot and concentrate. If I lose focus then I lose balance too.

So not it's not just you.

I can't sing either 😊

Alifeworthliving · 24/08/2020 19:39

My there are so many of you like me!I've found my people.looked up dyspraxia and I tick almost all of them.
I also have absolutely no sense of direction and am really forgetful and short term memory is rubbish,I struggle to say what I did yesterday unless I really really think about it.my words often get jumbled too.my feet are extremely flat, dont know if that has anything to do with the price of cheese though,,!!

Enoughnowstop · 24/08/2020 19:39

You need a balance board and yoga. Agree with the dyspraxia - my son spends half his life on the floor. He has a t-shirt that says ‘I’m not clumsy. I’m just doing random gravity checks’.

Alifeworthliving · 24/08/2020 19:40

@isthismylifenow oh I cant sing either but do love it,like I love dancing and ice skating, shame I'm awful at all three!!

OP posts:
Alifeworthliving · 24/08/2020 19:40

@Enoughnowstop I need one of those tshirtsin my life

OP posts:
isthismylifenow · 24/08/2020 19:52

I so badly need that shirt too.

And the thing is that my dd is a dancer and she cannot understand why I just cannot hang the hang of a move. Or step im the right direction if we do some form of workout. Now I have some thing to show her to prove it's not my fault Smile. Oh OP I couldn't tell you what I had for lunch, my memory is dire too.

I do love to dance in the kitchen and pretend I can sing and dance. I am just pleased I can't see myself.

I started doing belly dancing some tears back. Well dear lord what a disaster. Not only was I going the wrong way to everyone else, but I couldn't remember the next bloody step. Then one week I arrived at class and she's put wall size mirrors up. So then I saw myself in full glory being all uncordinated. I think that was the last time I went.

MySaladDays75 · 24/08/2020 19:59

GrinI'm exactly like this!!!
