because I don’t really have the right symptoms. I’ve got a mild occasional cough -but its not chesty -more like a throat irritation. No temperature, food tastes fine. Slightly tight chest but not breathless.

However I have got something odd. Feeling a bit shakey and woke up in the night with awful pains in the base of my skull. That went away and I woke up this morning feeling like something was stuck in my oesophagus- its eased a bit and I can eat and drink ( although not comfortably). I have a sore throat. Never had this combination of symptoms before.

Any ideas?

Could it be reflux? Are you getting any heart burn?

Probably worth getting tested.

I’d definitely get one. Covid is a respiratory infection and you’ve got respiratory symptoms. And you feel poorly in yourself which indicates you’ve got a germ of some sort. Better to know. Don’t forget not to go out and about till you have the results.

Are you self isolating?

They've run out of postal tests so if you want a test you'll need to go to a centre.

Better to be safe than sorry.

I’ve just had one due to the hacking cough I’ve developed. Relatively easy to get booked in for one.

GreyishDays · 24/08/2020 18:08

Covid cough is generally dry.

Cough = get a test anyway.

Get one booked always best to know for sure.
I had what I assume was a cold a few days ago but started to worry about it being Covid (although no actual Covid symptoms) booked a test for the next day (Saturday) had the results by tea time Sunday, ( negative) I’m a key worker and was due in work on the Monday so felt very relieved and reassured that I’d had the test and results in time
