Abnormal smear - any positive stories please?

I had an abnormal smear in January, had a biopsy and LLETZ treatment which confirmed CIN 2 (with clear margins - so a good outcome)

I was discharged and told to come back for a smear in 6 months time, so it’s due now. I’m feeling really anxious about it - it’s in the back of my mind all the time. I was just wondering if anyone who has been through an abnormal smear result/LLETZ treatment, could please share if things have all worked out ok after the treatment? I’m trying to break out of my worst case scenario thinking! Sad

Thanks in advance Smile

I had this from my very first smear! Had a LLETZ then regular follow ups. This was nearly 20 years ago and I haven't had a problem since. I'm now back to 3yrly call backs.

All I would say is that, once you've gone through a colposcopy and a LLETZ, a smear test is an absolute cinch!!

I had a CIN3 back in 2006 had lletz treatment and then yearly smear tests for 10 years. In 2013 on my smear they found abnormalities again. This was carcinoma in situ. I had further treatment and a bigger piece of my cervix taken via a cone biopsy on top of a further lletz. I had a baby in 2017 and have had yearly smears since 2013 and they have all come back clear. I have now been told I can move to 3 yearly smears so I am very happy.

I had this, went onto yearly smears, had baby, now on 3 yearly smears and all is fine! Previous poster is right, smears are a breeze now

Hi! I had my first smear test aged 24, results were CIN3. I had LLETZ treatment then went back after 6 months for a check and it was all cleared. I had another smear test 3 years later, then another one 18 months later (I got that one as part of a private healthcare check through work). Both those smears have been clear again and I'm on the 3 year recall.
I know it's a worry, and it's horrid waiting. But, even if they find more CIN cells then you know they can treat them to be removed. They are very good at what they do, I think how lucky we are to have this treatment! Hope it goes okay for you xx

I had lletz for cin3 (clear margins woohoo!) and my 6m follow up was all clear

Thank you everyone who’s responded Smile

@valentinoandme it was my first smear this year which came back abnormal too! Good point, I’ll never feel apprehensive about the smears anymore! Glad it all worked out well for you Flowers
