I’ve seen similar done on Pinterest, but they look better if you put an arch of some sort in front, so it looks as if you’re stepping through it, into another garden.

Smallsteps88 · 23/08/2020 14:48

Why would you think it might be UR to put something you like on your own fence?

PlanDeRaccordement · 23/08/2020 14:50

Yes you would. It’s going to look fake and you will become “that neighbour”

DrDetriment · 23/08/2020 14:52

Sorry - you want to put a shower curtain up on your fence? Have I totally got the wrong end of the stick or are you bonkers?

ThatsNotMyNameItsTooFluffy · 23/08/2020 14:56

Shower curtain will go mouldy - happy to see any pics for what you are aiming towards though! As long as you own the fence, you do you hun!Wink

I love those garden mirrors that look like an open door or window, think that would look better and love the arch idea.

You can have what you wan't on your garden fence, it doesn't matter what others think. It might be a better view than those trampoline things, or those plastic hot tubs things. It would look better, if you had a few climbing plants on the fence,to surround the actual picture.

WendyHoused · 23/08/2020 15:40

Do what you like, but I think it would look awful very quickly.

Installing a mirror and grow climbers around it can look great - there are a few gardens near me who've done that. It's really effective.

bettsbattenburg · 23/08/2020 16:16

I like the mirror idea. We already have climbers on the fence so I think I'll do that - back to Pinterest to find some examples, thanks.

It's going to look really naff tbh.

nolovelost · 23/08/2020 18:42

Do what you like but it will look pretty tacky!

user1471447924 · 23/08/2020 18:45

Is the link supposed to go to a shower curtain??

yolio · 23/08/2020 18:48

Just grow veggies and flowers and have a nice space for SD meet ups.

Nothing else matters anymore.

HowFastIsTooFast · 23/08/2020 18:59

Be careful where you put the mirror OP, if it's facing the sun at any point it can reflect hot enough to set the opposite fence/table/plants on fire Confused

Source : Once sat around a table with an outdoor mirror behind it bouncing the sun on to me, near enough set me on fire!

LaurieFairyCake · 23/08/2020 19:01

Why not trompe l'oeil ?

Crikeyblimey · 23/08/2020 19:03

Garden mirrors can look really good (well, I would say that cos I have one). Siting it is important though. You have to be mindful of what can be seen in the reflection.
This is mine and I love it.

I love it too, thanks for the photo. Our garden gets the sun in the early morning and it moves round to set at the front so we get sun on the left fence during the middle of the day so we're really going to limited where we put it - the obvious place would mean we were looking at our own reflections or it would be behind us depending where we were sitting. The only other place is where it gets the early morning sun and then we'd be seeing our reflection too.
