To have wanted a few hours alone

DH and I worked from home all through lockdown, looking after DS4 between us. It was really hard work. I also studied for professional exams during this time.

Finally D'S started school last week, so we could concentrate better at work (it's very intense and I've had to work longer hours to keep up). Dh was off work last Monday and will be again tomorrow, he does a lot in the house but Also chills for a few hours.

D'S was poorl y for a few.nights and ended up getting a. Covid test, which meant we had.to keep him off school and work round him again.

I have had a few MH issues in the past, they.reoccur when I'm stressed and I can feel the beginnings of another episode. So, I asked.DH if I could have a few hours to myself todAy to chill. I'm just feeling really overwhelmed. Hes been huffing and puffing and eye rolling, but has taken D'S out.

I've chilled for maybe 45 minutes, but also changed bedding, vacuumed,
walked the dog. Wibu to ask for the time to myself?

If you can't trust yourself near an unmade bed or a hoover without getting stuck in (not something I suffer from myself!) then you need to get out the door before they come back - and do anything, go for a walk if you can face yet another walk, sit in a coffeeshop or the park - but don't go home for at least a few hours. And don't take your phone because if you're on call it's not a proper break.

I don't mind doing the beds and hoovering. It's just that my brain needs a break from other people iyswim! DS4 wants attention constantly and I'm getting a bit snappy

YANBU. Everyone needs a bit of "me time", if you've not had any since lockdown started then you've done amazing, 'd be rocking in a corner by now!

Half the reason I have been so diligent about maintaining my fitness during lockdown and beyond is so I have an excuse to go out by myself. Everyone needs time to themselves in some form or another. Dh is getting some downtime, you should too. Yanbu.

I love getting a chance to clean the house while other people are out. It's therapeutic and feels so good to get stuff done and it stays tidy for a while.
You definitely deserved the time to yourself. Get dh to bring a take away for tea!

Yadnbu we all need a bit of time to ourselves. Just ignore your dh he's lucky he's coping not everybody does. I've worked in a food shop all through lockdown and while I don't mind hard work I really began to hate people so much that my boss gave me two days off just to recharge.
