I'm looking for a great pulled pork recipe to go with macaroni cheese.

I could spend hours trawling the internet, or I could ask you lovely lot!

No idea if you would be in the mood for a meat free version but I make this all the time and it’s spectacular: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/tasty.co/amp/recipe/vegan-pulled-pork-sandwiches

The committee-carnivore BF of my husband raved about it and said he couldn’t tell the difference from real pork.

I've used this one loads - just in the oven/grill rather than on a bbq. Foolproof and absolutely delicious

I don't really have a recipe in that I kind of made it up myself Grin.

I do mine in a pressure cooker.

I start with two pork loins that I chop into 6cm chunks.

I brown them in the pan then add:

  • BBQ sauce (about half a bottle) I like the Jack Daniel's one
  • a tablespoon of liquid smoke (optional and I've used smoked paprika as a replacement again a table spoon)
  • a good few dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • a green chilli (because I like it a bit spicy but you can leave that out)
  • fresh orange juice to make the mixture come to the top of the pork
  • salt and pepper and a bay leaf

Then I cook under pressure for 30 mins so the pork is tender, remove the lid and then let it simmer until the liquid has reduced to about an inch on the bottom of the pan.

I then shred the pork using two forks (I just do this in the pan) and then stir to coat the pork with the reduced sauce.

You could do without the pressure cooker it would just take longer.

If you don't fancy orange juice use chicken stock - I've done both and it's still lovely.

Yummy...

Sorry just to add I just put a slit lengthways in the chilli and pop it in whole then discard with the bay leaf before shredding the pork.

I just want a bit of heat not for it to be overwhelming which I think it would if you chopped it and left it in.

They sound great! This just means we are gonna have to eat lots of pulled pork to work out the best one!

I use either a reds true bbq or Schwartz sachet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Somebody on here once posted a great texan recipe that included 10 twists of black pepper, whole mustard seeds and whatnot, I never got round to making it and of course the thread is long lost. I'll try these.

What type of sides does everyone serve with pulled pork?

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2020 18:20

I tend to serve it with coleslaw, green salad and flat bread or as the OP suggested mac and cheese.

The kids (and DH) love it on burgers with a cheese slice - what I usually do is serve it first as above and freeze the leftovers to put with burgers for when we next have a BBQ (it freezes really well so it's always worth making a good batch of it).
