How to get over my anxiety about giving covid to vulnerable relatives.

We have taken covid very seriously, during lockdown, social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands etc.

But I have major anxiety that we could be asymptomatic and be carrying the virus and not know.

Obviously if we did have symptoms we would isolate and do a test.

But what if we don’t know?

I really want to start visiting my granny again regularly (we have seen her a few times). She’s nearly 80, no specific health concerns but obviously age is a factor. I would never live with myself if I thought we give her covid.

She does go out shopping and meeting other family members etc so theres also a risk for her with that, not just us!

Please help me feel better. Obviously we will social distance as much as possible with her!

In my area, I wouldn't go and see my granny right now if I wasn't isolating generally.

I think you have to look at your location.

Thank you. We live in an area with barely any cases but you are totally right to do that. I would be the same in an area with a high number of cases. I still worry though (hence post). She’s not shielded during this as she doesn’t have any underlying illnesses so I guess there’s a risk whilst she goes shopping, out and about etc (we offered to go shopping for her but would often want to go herself).

We are generally still social distancing! We don’t go to busy places, get our food delivered, go out and about early whilst it’s quiet, wear masks, constantly wash or gel hands and just avoid people generally.. We don’t really see anyone other than immediate family either 😀 so I’m hoping this will keep the risk minimal. My partner is going to work but his job is less risk to covid!

I just feel really anxious about the virus!
