On your days off do you have a lie in?I ask this question as I am in my 50s and as a child my parents always woke me up by 8.Teenage years I did try to lie in.
Fast forward to now I go to bed at the same time wake the same time as I do long hours this helps enormously.DH get up early for his job and 10 at weekends. This week he has been off yet still has a lie in until 10!I feel like half the day is gone by the time he is dressed.
I don't understand.I'm sure not everyone is a morning person like myself. What time do you get up?

My youngest dc is 5 so I don't get to sleep on the schedule I would prefer, which would be going to bed between 2 and 3am and getting up between 10 and 11am. I did get a lie in until after 9am one day last week though, which was lovely.

I have a lie in if I can, although often at the weekend my body clock naturally wakes me at or close to my usual get up time but honestly on a day off I see waking at any time before 8:30 as having woken up early and am always disappointed if I don’t manage to sleep later. If I have a week off then after the first few days my body clock shifts and I’m able to sleep in until between 9 and 10:30. I don’t often wake later than that unless I’ve had a very late night but I definitely wouldn’t see waking up before 10:30 as ‘wasting’ the day or as having half the day gone - seems reasonable to me assuming no kids or other commitments.

If there's no kids and no particular plan, I'm not sure why getting up at 10am is an issue, it's not even that late. Is the real issue that you want him to do more stuff with you? And why do you have to 'tiptoe' around? I hate the moral superiority some early risers have tbh.

I don't work and live alone, I get up anytime between 6am and not at all!
Recently it's been 11-12ish.

Popc0rn · 21/08/2020 19:04

Whenever I want, I get up at 6am on work days and often don't get to sleep until gone midnight, so on my days off I don't set an alarm if I don't have any plans. I'm usually up and out of bed by 10.30am.

My children have been up from 5-7 every damn day of lockdown. Dreaming of a day off 🤣

Casschops · 21/08/2020 19:15

6 am out for 7.45.

I never get up before 10 a.m. unless I have a reason. Even if I'm wide awake for hours or had a very early night (10-11 p.m. for me), I'd either read or just lie there, daydreaming. I often get up between 10.30 and midday.
