Hi .I booked an over night spa stay with my partner over a week ago .This is something we both wanted to do .In fact it was his idea.Well it's tonight.Leading up to this neither of us have mentioned it to the other .He's been unapproachable the last coupe of days I'm guessing down to his work load .Coming home tired not talking.I have tried to talk to him , but when he's like this I leave him to it .So my question is do I just go on ahead then I can send him a cheeky text saying I'm already here so when he has finished for the day he can met me there .Remind him now , but where's the fun in that .Or go & see if I'm in fact on his radar at all .I appreciate it looks like I'm setting him up for a fall ,but honestly that's not my intentions. My intentions are does he even know of my existence.

All sounds rather immature and tedious

Send a text saying arriving at spa at x See you then

Oysterbabe · 21/08/2020 11:16

It's childish and will just end up ruining the trip by pissing him off.

thepeopleversuswork · 21/08/2020 11:28

Agree that's not a good approach. Just be upfront with him and ask him. Chances are he's just tired and preoccupied. He'll either engage and you can plan or he will make some sort of excuse. In which case you will know you have bigger problems than a spa weekend.

Game-playing is never a good basis for a relationship.

teainamug · 21/08/2020 11:42

I suppose you could all see it like that .Thank you .Again not intentional. It's just I'm going to be waiting around for him to finish later. He hasn't said what time .My thinking was to go on ahead , but then undecided what to do about do I or don't I contact him .

What was the original plan about going? Were you planning meeting there or going together?

If he's working just get ready and go and text him that you're on your way and will see him there when he finishes work. Or do you think he's forgotten? If you think he's forgotten maybe text now?

I don't know tbh, because if it had been me I would have said something before now, I would have mentioned it or text him if he's too tired to talk.

teainamug · 21/08/2020 11:59

The plan was to go together, but the way he's been acting the last couple of days towards me I feel I can't be bothered .I know I wrote when he's tired I give him space , but the lead up to that he is very aggressive in the way he talks to me .Like I'm his emotional punch bag .He suffers from bouts of depression.

Just to add .When I booked it he didn't want to know where it was .So more of a fun surprise for him .I was on board thinking this would be fun as well , but now after him leaving for work this am still in a mood .like I said can't be bothered.

I'd go on my own and enjoy the peace!

Do you really want to stay with someone like this forever OP?

katy1213 · 21/08/2020 12:18

And does he really want to stay with someone like you?
If he doesn't know where it is, you should have discussed it with him before now as presumably he'd want to take a bag to work and travel from there?
If you don't want his company, then go on your own and stop playing silly games.

thepeopleversuswork · 21/08/2020 12:19

I mean I find his lack of interest in it bizarre: suggests he's a bit meh about it. Why would you want to be with someone who isn't fired up about going away together?

ClaraJude · 21/08/2020 12:20

Really petty and childish. Just text him to say what time you’ll meet him there and that you’re looking forward to it.

His silences and sulking sound equally tedious and are worth tackling in due course.

YummyInMyTummy · 21/08/2020 12:20

You can remind him / let him know but still go on ahead & meet him there.

teainamug · 21/08/2020 12:41

Ok .So I've taken on board what you're all saying .Relationships are hard work .I will leave this thread now .Thank you again for all the replies .
