AIBU to think this is a bit of a reach?

tbh I read that as 'a brilliant Idea! Hit her!' so I can see why it's caused some confusion.

Sh05 · 21/08/2020 08:06

They've used 3 different fonts and put hit her in caps.
The word brilliant should have been on a line if it's own in a different font and the test of the words should have all been the same.
There's definately better lines from Matilda they could have used

There is another thread about this on here.

HappyPunky · 21/08/2020 08:09

It's the design that's the problem.
It's not quite the same in this case but look at "Don't dead, open inside" lots of examples where layout and fonts cause confusion.

PablosHoney · 21/08/2020 09:25

Oh ffs 😂😂 it really is reaching

RiteAid · 21/08/2020 09:48

I can see both sides. On the one hand the fonts etc definitely make it seem to say ‘a brilliant idea - hit her’ but on the other hand, it’s obviously not like anyone is going to be like ‘that mug has really inspired me, I’m going to deck my wife’.

It’s an ugly mug anyway, so for that reason alone it should be recalled Grin

What a stupid quote for a mug. I really do wonder how these things get signed off
