To ask the drs to test hormones

Ask my gp app has made it easier to get hold of my Dr. It used to take me seven weeks and a trip to town. Now you communicate on the app on the day. I've had a rubbish year. Attempted to get anemia under control in February. Was given iron pills. I won't go into huge detail but a locum Dr provided me the mini pill Insisting it would help, despite other drs saying it was too risky as I'm prone to anemia. Long story short I bled for five weeks and called the drs 3 weeks into the bleed..... Same Dr responded saying keep it up or stop. I waited two weeks. Called a second time. I decided to stop. Then two weeks later I called a third time..... My stomach was churning and I was starting to struggle with the harsh iron tablets. He said give it a month then we will see about you having a liquid and prescribed me omeprazole.

After a few days of taking this I realised it's known for blocking iron absorption. Also I read it's really not great for your stomach. So I contacted them a 4th time. I was feeling more and more fed up. Anxiety was kicking in. I spoke to my usual gp that I hadn't been able to speak too. She was great. She booked a blood test to check my iron etc again. We discussed me being referred for my bad periods. She Said about further scans...... She also told me I should have been taking vitamin D as my levels were 25. She said the other Dr should have described me some. So she put me on high dose one for 12 weeks (10 weeks in) overall positive call. Had my bloods taken and iron was within the normal range again. I was called to be referred but the lady who called told me the services were just not particularly running anywhere properly right now. She explained it would be phone calls and the local hospital wasn't currently offering anything. So I said I'd have to wait as travelling an hour away is near on impossible with two children and partner working all week.

I ended up contacting them for a 5th time last week as I'm an anxious mess and not coping great at the moment. Had a chat through my options and currently just reading self help things as meds came with side effects that I don't want to chance as I've been living in side effect hell since February. Headaches, nausea, spotting, pains in stomach, anxiety, panic.

Now to finally get to the point. I've been keeping a symptom diary since may. I have alot of things that have heightened over lockdown but also since the mini pill trial. So it's hard to tell. But....

On cd day 12-14 I know it's ovulation. Painful twinges in ovaries. I feel sleepy and sickly on day 13 every month. I spot on that one day without fail. I also feel low moods.

Every cycle since may on cd 18-19 I've had a panic attack in the night. Only just noticed they land on the same part of my cycle.

I get a headache after my period finishes now too. It's a neck headache. It leaves me with nausea and weakness for 2 days on average.

I had pain in my ovary for a week this time then had the heaviest period.

I notice I get hairy the day my period starts. I have to Veet my chin and tash! Very strange.

Periods are 7 days and every 24 days. They are sometimes really heavy. But I also need lots of pain killers for the side effects, cramps, headaches, feeling warm and overall yucky.

I seem to be up and down with energy. Up and down with anxiety. Up and down with feelings.

So would I be reasonable requesting that they check my hormones and is this done on a set day?

I feel like they will think I'm a hypercondriact soon..but I don't feel right and have not all year. Sometimes I worry it's something sinister. Then I think lockdown has just wrecked my energy levels. Then I think it's hormones. Then I think it's anxiety.or is it everything?

Sorry for the long post. I'm just wide awake at 1am. I came up for a bath last night at 6.30pm and I've not been back downstairs due to feeling rubbish.

What hormones are you wanting checked? And what are you hoping it will tell you?

DaisyDreaming · 20/08/2020 02:20

The mini pill alone can cause those symptoms including anxiety

Ive not been on the mini pill since April.

All hormones that could be causing me issues. Is there not anything that I can do if they are not ok?
