AIBU to ask if you post on threads that make your blood boil?

Quite often I read threads that wind me up so much I have to fight my inclination to engage with them. Am I alone in this? I sometimes type out responses but delete before posting because I think it's going to lead to a blood bath. The better person within me tells me to move on & look for lighter content.

Food for kids threads. Every now and then I can’t help myself and post. But I try and leave the smug wankers to themselves.

Propercrimboselecta · 19/08/2020 22:51

I sometimes do, if I get there when there is less than 2 pages of replies. Otherwise nobody reads what I've said so it's a waste of energy and gets me wound up for no reason.

Sometimes I get annoyed but cba posting.

Throckmorton · 19/08/2020 22:54

You appear to be me :)

morosetinkler · 19/08/2020 22:59

I, I just hide them.

Flatpackback · 19/08/2020 22:59

Throckmorton when I get too hysterical I move to the gardening thread to calm me down 😂

Throckmorton · 19/08/2020 23:00

There's a gardening thread?! Ohh, awesome!!

22Giraffes · 19/08/2020 23:01

Yes, all the time!

PhilSwagielka · 19/08/2020 23:02

Occasionally, but if it's anything to do with trans stuff or race I stay well clear because I don't trust myself not to lose my temper.

22Giraffes · 19/08/2020 23:03

Sorry I mean yes I avoid posting on them all the time, I can never articulate my point well enough so I don't bother as it'll wind me up more!

Icanflyhigh · 19/08/2020 23:04

Sometimes, depends how much of an arse/troll I feel like being.
Mostly I scroll past, my opinion is just that and there is no reason why the world needs to share it or even know about it. More often than not, I only end up feeling mighty pissed off anyway!

Summersnearlyover · 19/08/2020 23:06

I have to restrain myself from posting sometimes, mainly about how to get through the 4 month sleep regression, I haven’t had a full nights sleep in over a decade, surely you can cope with a few months. I can feel the rage building in me now 😂

year5teacher · 19/08/2020 23:07

Yes, sometimes I consider getting involved in certain threads and then I remember I really don’t want to waste my time arguing with transphobic people.

Flatpackback · 19/08/2020 23:17

Throckmorton the gardening photos thread is a zen moment

Depends. Sometimes if I find a particular post awful, I'll call it out. But there are some subjects I avoid altogether (ie I won't even click on the thread) because I know it'll infuriate me, and I'm not that much of a masochist.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 19/08/2020 23:22

I try not to, but sometimes, especially if I've been drinking, I weaken

Same.
Ihaventgottimeforthis · 19/08/2020 23:27

Ooh I sometimes can't resist posting, as I'm sure I am the voice of reason that will change everyone's mind and put an end to the argument.

But even then I delete before posting usually, even at this time of night.

Stonerosie67 · 19/08/2020 23:27

Depends if I feel strongly enough about the subject. If I do then I'll get involved.

It also depends if I'm in a foul mood or not too.....

TableFlowerss · 19/08/2020 23:29

I try not to as much these days but sometimes, especially when I’ve had ages sherbets I post....

It’s the rage I feel at some posters Grin

TableFlowerss · 19/08/2020 23:30

a few sherbets

Pinkchocolate · 19/08/2020 23:35

Yes! Sometimes you know it’s just wasted energy and can’t be bothered to try and change people’s stupid opinions.

UserFriendly14 · 20/08/2020 00:06

So often I want to type out a blunt etc. type post and then remember my username and that I better leave AIBU for a little while...!

Flatpackback · 20/08/2020 00:37

I find that sometimes I'd like to ask genuine questions but know they will not be well received, or will be considered goady. It's a shame because IRL it's hard to meet the cross section of people who post on here. It's a real opportunity to engage with people across age/race/income/national/political boundaries and gain understanding of differing viewpoints but it's often so hostile those opportunities are lost.

I've had to come off that stupid thread that's still going about whether ops dh does enough.....absolutely batshit crazy on there now!
