To hate looking young - like a teenager.

I am 25 but no way look it.
As in, I could probably pass as 13-15 yr old if you put me in a school uniform.

I am a supply teacher (primary) and I hate my looks. I feel i'm pretty, have a lovely boyfriend so i'm happy. But I feel older ladies often comment on me looking 12, "no way are you a teacher!" ect.

September is looming and it's getting me down that i'm probably going to enter schools and have the "are you old enough to teach this class?" looks again.

I wear blouses, trousers, wedges, heeled shoes but still I can't pass as my own age! I have shoulder length curly hair.

I'm 5'0 and weight 7 stone 7.

My dds are already cursing me for our babyfaced genes. Dd2 is also v petite and has perfected the hard stare when checkout assistants still ask 'are you helping mummy' now she is 15. My colleague is 38 but gets treated as early twenties professionally which she hates. Personally, I am appreciating the youthful skin at 48.

And i am gutted now that i am no longer mistakenly asked for id!!

If you miss being asked, order alcohol from Amazon. I had a delivery and he asked me for ID before he would give me the package. I'm in my 70s and use a walking frame and I know I look my age but nope - had to show him ID. Grin

I'm in my 50s but still regularly get asked for ID when buying alcohol. My daughter is 31 and looks about 16, she takes it in her stride! Having said that, my parents are in their late 80s and could pass for at least 20 years younger. I'm thrilled I have good genes although I wasn't so pleased when I was younger!

in your 50s and regularly get mistaken for a teenager? I find this very very hard to imagine!

long way off OP but trust me, you'll be delighted when you are older. I always looked a lot younger and like you, hated it HOWEVER......i am now 55 and still look (& act...) a lot younger and am appreciating it now.

Lonoxo · 21/08/2020 21:31

Professionally, it’s a pain in the ass but remember the problem lies with the other person. I look younger than I am but people think I’m older because of the way I act. If someone asks your age, always ask their age back.

When you are in your 40s, you will have the body of a 20 something combined with the knowledge and experience of somebody in their 40s which should be a potent combination.

someone who thinks a 50 year old is a teenager, no matter how tiny they are, needs to get down the opticians asap!

I'm reminded of the 1973 film Don't Look Now where the little girl character was in fact an elderly woman, just very small.

Indeed! Grin And some of them work as delivery drivers...that's a bit scary. Wink
