Posting for traffic (and because its the only board I read)

Can anybody recommend a decent label maker for the children's uniforms and lunch boxes etc ? I have looked at a few but its hard to figure out if they are suitable for both fabric and not??

Thanks for any guidance

Petit-Ferdinand are great, personalised stickers or labels that don't come off in the wash. I have just re-ordered some for my youngest.

Thank you @FloydWasACat I'm thinking of getting the actual machine so I can make them myself. I have 7dc so seems a false economy to keep buying them prepare. (should that have a hyphen?)

Biro lasts longer than many labels I've found, just renew every half term!

SoupDragon · 19/08/2020 09:34

The Dynamo ones have different tapes you can put in, including one for iron on labels. The stick on ones don't seem to be very long lasting though.

SoupDragon · 19/08/2020 09:36

I had sew in tapes made up that said A Dragon B. Child A had A Dragon, Child B had Dragon B and Child C had just Dragon. It helped that our surname was unique in the schools though (although sadly not dragon)!

FloydWasACat · 19/08/2020 09:42

Aah, I see. I have always wanted a label maker!!!

notso · 19/08/2020 09:46

I have a Brother label maker that can do all kinds of labels including iron on. It's the similar to the one they used to use in M&S to make their uniform labels (or the ones I bought anyway) I've had it years and the kids love messing with it so label their own stuff!

@SoupDragon I've always been jealous of parents who can do this. Our surname is a popular first name so it would never work for us Hmm

This is a good option

I have the dymo label maker with interchangeable cartridges. The cartridges can be expensive but tend to pick them up in Aldi at this time of year. Iron in tape good for uniform and plastic tapes for lunchboxes etc. Easy to use, worth the investment imo.

Thank you everyone

@notso can I ask the model?

@NowTheDucksAreBarking thanks for the link that though looks like far too much work for me.(I'm not particularly creative)

@rabbitheadlights
I've just checked and it's not Brother at all Blush it's a Dymo LetraTag!
Anyway it's great, easy to use, the cartridges last ages and are reasonably priced.

rabbitheadlights · 19/08/2020 10:10

@notso thank you
