AIBU to not wear a bra?

Has anybody else not worn a bra since lockdown?
I have been furloughed so at home I have been going braless and I feel so much more comfortable!
Obviously i'll wear a bra when work picks up again but I have also not been wearing a bra when I go for meals, shopping, seeing friends etc.

I am 25 and I am a 32b and personally I think it looks okay. However, my friend's boyfriend saw my boyfriend the other night and commented that he noticed I haven't been wearing bras.

Now i'm not sure whether to go back to wearing bras in my everyday routines.

I am a 34F, and much more comfortable wearing a bra, wish my boobs were smaller

AriesTheRam · 20/08/2020 21:05

If dh friend had commented on my lack of bra dh would have probably said wtf you doing looking at my wife's tits Confused

Winterwoollies · 20/08/2020 21:48

Thanks @Bwlch

IceniSky · 20/08/2020 21:57

Been wearing crop tops since March. 32C. I'm 42.

I've found under lower cut dresses I no longer need a vest, the crop top acts like a vest and under vest tops I get less armpit overflow and it just looks like a second vest if straps on display. I do worry though people are judging.

But why must I wear a bra?

Dizzywizz · 20/08/2020 21:59

Bras are painful for me (nerve pain from a condition a have) so I hardly ever wear them...sometimes a vest top with support. I am a 38d. My nipples are large so if needed I put plasters on them 🙈🤣. Weird that your friends boyfriend said something , have you told her?

Dizzywizz · 20/08/2020 22:00

Seriously this makes me angry...wtf should we wear bras???!!!

LouisBalfour · 20/08/2020 22:03

If I were a 32B I'd happily go bra-less. I am a 32DD and go without at home, but do wear one when I go out. I think if they have a tendency to droop, it must be uncomfortable though.

Nacreous · 20/08/2020 22:04

I have tried boob or bust. I have been measured/sized at bravissimo and I hate all of them.

I gave them up during Covid as I was working crazy hours at the Trust and just couldn't face it. I wear a crop top type bra if a dress looks better that way and have an m and s non-underwired super soft one for special occasions.

Ginfordinner · 20/08/2020 22:44

Women should feel free to wear a bra or not, but I think they are being naive to think that young men don't notice and make comments, because they do (unfortunately).

However, I agree that the OP's friend's boyfriend sounds like an immature arsehole completely lacking in social awareness.

mrsbyers · 20/08/2020 22:59

I bought a set of three padded bralet tops from primark a while ago and haven’t worn a proper bra since , provide good level of support (38DD) comfortable and means when I have visitors of people delivering parcels I feel ‘decent’

roarfeckingroarr · 20/08/2020 23:06

I rarely wear a bra recently partly because it exacerbates pregnancy rib pain. I'm a 30F though so it's meant wearing a vest top and being careful with colours!

yeOldeTrout · 23/08/2020 11:30

I love my bras. They will only be prised off my cold dead body.

Males notice, especially hetero males.
Teen DS commented on me being braless once (has verbal diarrhoea at best of times).

Their brains are designed to notice secondary sex characteristics of females. I don't blame them for that.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/08/2020 11:35

I haven't worn one for 30 years. I have never given a shit what men think.

Toothsil · 23/08/2020 11:43

I seem to be in the minority here but I hate not having one on. I feel undressed without one. I never find them uncomfortable though.

Ginfordinner · 23/08/2020 11:56

Same here Toothsil.
I look like a boy without one Sad

Pipandmum · 23/08/2020 12:03

It's your choice: I'm a 38C and would be very self conscious bouncing as I walked around.
As long as you are wearing non see thru tops what's the problem?
As for your friends boyfriend - noticing is fine, saying something to your boyfriend is a bit much, but then why did he report back to you? Let's be honest, don't you talk to your girlfriends about their boyfriends?

@CakeandCoffeeQueen I had one 4 weeks ago, as soon as they are healed I’ll never wear a bra again either! Still have surgical bras on for now, another few weeks hopefully. I went from a 34JJ and have a 34D on right now, and they’ve still to go down further. I feel so free!

Can’t wait to be braless every single day

Zoflorabore · 23/08/2020 12:56

I hate bra’s but I have huge boobs. I’ve always whipped off my bra the second I get home from anywhere and never ever wear one at home so lockdown as a SAHM has been great as I hardly go out.

I do wear a bra when I leave the house though as it would be very obvious otherwise.
I’ve also taken a liking to the crop tops that have so much support and look like an actual bra. Matalan have some gorgeous ones.

If you can get away with it then go for it Smile

hellotoday27 · 23/08/2020 13:03

I go braless whenever possible and if I were a 32b that would be all the time.

Sadly, I'm a J cup and bras are a necessity in public. I've bought some bralettes for when I'm pottering around the house and garden.

Enchantmentz · 23/08/2020 13:08

I'd take issue with someone commenting on my braless-ness, there are plenty of clothes out there that don't look good with a bra. I only wear a bra if it is appropriate or suits the outfit otherwise they swing free. My bras are comfortable so that isn't an issue but I do think it is pointless to wear a bra all the time if you aren't in dire need of support.

BogRollBOGOF · 23/08/2020 13:15

I'm "32B" or thereabouts (in 30D today, smaller back, bigger cup makes a difference) and bra-less is fine. I can't be bothered to wear one when it's hot as who needs sweaty foam in hot weather, and there's minimal benefit to something not padded plus it will show nipples anyway and attract the attention of crass men, so you may as well go without.

Morgan12 · 23/08/2020 13:21

I wish I could get away with not wearing them but I'm a 34f and look like something out a carry on film when walking 😂

Very strange comment from your friends partner though. I'd text him and tell him not to comment on my tits again.

KeepingPlain · 23/08/2020 13:27

Try sports bras. Not the high impact ones, the softer ones, but they are so bloody comfy! Can't believe I've been putting up with bloody wired ones for ages! I'm never going back to normal ones if I can help it. Grin I will if I have to go into the office, but otherwise nope. And I'm only doing it then because you can see the straps of the sports bras I have, although I imagine you can get others that don't show.

ClementineWoolysocks · 23/08/2020 13:36

I hope your boyfriend told him to keep his eyes off your chest and his remarks to himself. What a creep.

AgeLikeWine · 23/08/2020 13:43

Men will always notice when a woman is obviously not wearing a bra. It’s rude, immature and creepy to comment on it, though.
