AIBU to not wear a bra?

Has anybody else not worn a bra since lockdown?
I have been furloughed so at home I have been going braless and I feel so much more comfortable!
Obviously i'll wear a bra when work picks up again but I have also not been wearing a bra when I go for meals, shopping, seeing friends etc.

I am 25 and I am a 32b and personally I think it looks okay. However, my friend's boyfriend saw my boyfriend the other night and commented that he noticed I haven't been wearing bras.

Now i'm not sure whether to go back to wearing bras in my everyday routines.

I haven’t worn bras for a year or so. I favour stretchy bralette things instead. I don’t have large breasts and they’re comfy.

Wear what you like. The friend of your boyfriend is majorly creepy though. Who says that?

WildfirePonie · 20/08/2020 18:50

I haven't worn a bra for years and have a large chest. Prefer to wear a comfy sports bra type of thing when I go out and usully rip it off as soon as I get in the house!

Ginfordinner · 20/08/2020 18:51

There was a study of french women I found once actually, that found bras possibly cause sagginess, rather than preventing it. Something about the weight of the breast tissue being hung from the shoulders leads to the breast ligaments becoming atrophied and less elastic over time. So they lose their natural “bounce”.

This was one study. Common sense tells me that this is bullshit. Wear a bra or don't wear one. I don't care.

IMO the saggy look is not very attractive.

mogtheexcellent · 20/08/2020 18:51

I'm a 38FF and currently braless. If going out I'll pop on a support vest top thing. Much comfier!

Branleuse · 20/08/2020 18:52

Your friends boyfriend is a perve. How the hell that come up in conversation

lifesalongsong · 20/08/2020 18:52

As an adult you don't need to either ask the internet what you can wear or give two fucks what someone else says you should be wearing

Even if literally every other woman in the world choose to wear a bra you still wouldn't be unreasonable not to.

As this is a totally necessary question I hope I haven't fallen for a bra pervert post.

Ginfordinner · 20/08/2020 18:56

While I agree that he shouldn't be talking about it or perving about it, I think you under-estimate the male species. This is something that most of them will notice, whether we like it or not. Remember Charlie Dimmock on a gardening programme? All everyone talked about was that she wasn't wearing a bra, not how good her garden designs were.

LakieLady · 20/08/2020 18:58

Wtf was your friend's boyfriend looking at your tits for? What a creep.

Wear what you like OP, it's no-one's business but your own.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/08/2020 18:59

YANBU but if your bra is that uncomfortable it’s not the right size or fit for you.

TheGoogleMum · 20/08/2020 19:03

Yeah I was that size and used to go braless if I was chilling at home as a student even though others were around. Now I'm too self conscious that even if I'm not cold my nipples seem to visible through all my tops even thick ones so I dont risk it publicly often. I guess it depends if you care that men notice?

Silvercatowner · 20/08/2020 19:09

I've not worn a bra since lockdown and hopefully won't ever again. Bizarre, misogynistic items of clothing.

Lsquiggles · 20/08/2020 19:15

What did your boyfriend say to his friend when he said this? Shock so inappropriate to be looking at your chest, even weirder to tell your boyfriend that he's been looking!

GameSetMatch · 20/08/2020 19:25

If I was a 34b I wouldn’t be wearing a bra either!

Washimal · 20/08/2020 19:33

When I got fitted for a bra at Bravissimo the woman told me that if you're wearing a decent bra in the right size you really shouldn't be able to feel it, let alone experience any discomfort. This is just sales bullshit I thought, all bras are the work of the devill!! Then I tried on a bra in my actual size (completely different to what I thought) that was the right style for my shape and it was a revelation! Turns out she was right. But also as an added bonus my clothes looked better, I looked slimmer and my boobs looked great. That said, YANBU to not wear a bra regardless of what other women prefer to do and your friends creepy BF can fuck right off.

1Morewineplease · 20/08/2020 19:35

I have worn cropped tops /sports tops for years. So much more comfortable . Ideally I’d not wear one at all but I can’t be doing with my flappers swinging under my armpits.

Tarquinthecat · 20/08/2020 19:35

32b?

I'm a 46c and half the time I don't wear a bra with a summer dress, tee shirts etc. I don't give a wet slap what anyone thinks and nobody has ever remarked on it.

Winterwoollies · 20/08/2020 19:40

Sorry to slightly hijack the thread but do people really rate the site Boob or Bust? Because it said I should be in a 28H... which doesn’t sound like the sort of side that would be easy to get hold of?!

Winterwoollies · 20/08/2020 19:40

Incidentally that sounds like I have massive boobs and I don’t. I have next to no boobs. At all.

Ginfordinner · 20/08/2020 19:44

Thst doesn't sound right at all. What is your underbust measurement?
Bwlch · 20/08/2020 19:45

I'm a 28FF or G depending on the brand. I'm sure H is available. Look on the Bravissimo website.

Marmunia1975 · 20/08/2020 20:19

I haven't worn one for about 20 years! I prefer the vest tops. I don't really need one anyway which I'm happy about.

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/08/2020 20:40

Have barely worn any underwear since lockdown. Soo liberating, i am not sure if I shall be able to do so again! And btw, yes, your friends bf sounds like a right creep.

Cryalot2 · 20/08/2020 20:46

I only wish, but at 34j I have no choice .( they are natural)
I am the sort that dresses up and wears makeup every day. I do it for me .

UltimateIrritant · 20/08/2020 20:49

That is very weird that he commented, wear what you like, fuck anyone else

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 20/08/2020 20:55

I had a breast reduction last year and haven’t worn one since. I don’t care if my nipples show although some white vest tops show everything!
I would say he should mind his business.
